BASEBALL: Smith, Green Valley rout Rancho to clinch Northeast crown

Keaton Smith was 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs, and Green Valley’s baseball team clinched the Northeast League title with a 10-0 five-inning victory over visiting Rancho on Tuesday.

Ryan Jackson went the distance for the Gators, allowing three hits and one walk while striking out six. Teammate Jarrett Perns went 2-for-2 and also doubled.

Six of Green Valley’s 11 hits were doubles.

Spring Valley 9, Shadow Ridge 6 — At Spring Valley, Michael Macove hit a bases-loaded triple in the bottom of the fifth to cap a five-run inning that gave the Grizzlies the lead and helped them down the Mustangs.

Dylan Drachler went 3-for-3 with a two run-homer and pitched the seventh inning, notching a save for Spring Valley.

Jordan Hand went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer, and Ben Fitzhugh was 2-for-4 with a double for Shadow Ridge.

Arbor View 4, Durango 2 — At Durango, Kaid Urban was 2-for-4 with a run, two RBIs and four stolen bases to help the Aggies top the Trailblazers.

Nate Stepna went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and two stolen bases for Arbor View. Evan McMahan went the distance, allowing five hits and striking out eight, to get the win.

Jacob Skipper was 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and Scott Martinez hit a solo homer for Durango.

Valley 4, Canyon Springs 1 — At Valley, Nick Schellenger fired a two-hitter to power the Vikings over the Pioneers.

Schellenger allowed no earned runs, struck out six and walked one.

Andre Baughman broke a 1-1 tie with an RBI single in the fourth, and Alonso Osorio followed with a two-run single to make it 4-1.

Baughman and Osorio each went 2-for-3.

Sierra Vista 13, Palo Verde 2 — At Palo Verde, winning pitcher Nolan Kingham went 2-for-3 with a home run, double and three RBIs, and Matthew Almaguer was 4-for-4 with two RBIs as the Mountain Lions routed the Panthers in five innings.

Cole Crosby hit a triple, and Tyler Burdett and Caeden Marin each supplied a double for Sierra Vista. Bradley Lewis hit a triple for Palo Verde, which committed six errors and was eliminated from playoff contention.

Faith Lutheran 8, Pahrump Valley 3 — At Pahrump Valley, Dakota Greenwalt and Greg Sylvester each hit two run singles during a five-run fourth inning rally that gave the Crusaders the lead and the win over the Trojans.

Erich Uelmen, Tyler Trageton and Pudge Daraban each supplied a double for Faith Lutheran, which trailed 3-1 going into the fourth inning.

Dylan Ault was 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs for Pahrump.

Western 11, Mojave 6 — At Western, Edgar Reyes went 4-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the Warriors to the win over the Rattlers.

Ryan Garbowski was 3-for-3 with three runs, and Angel Hernandez provided a three-run triple for Western.

David Rowley and Ryan Lawrence each had three hits for Mojave.

Cheyenne 19, Clark 13 — At Clark, Lamon Harvey hit a two-run homer to highlight an eight-run seventh as the Desert Shields beat the Chargers.

Harvey was 2-for-2 with a triple, five runs and three RBIs to lead Cheyenne.

Izac Reza tripled twice and drove in three runs, and Orestes Marquetti was 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and three runs for Cheyenne, which got two doubles from Brian Corder.

Lincoln County 8, Pahranagat Valley 3 — At Panaca, Joey Vincent was 2-for-2 with a triple and three RBIs, and the Lynx beat the Panthers in six innings.

Jordan Cryts went 2-for-3 for Pahranagat.
