ROUNDUP: Canyon Springs girls blast Las Vegas, clinch Northeast title

Alexia Thrower had 12 points and 13 rebounds Thursday to help Canyon Springs’ girls basketball team clinch the Northeast League title with a 56-38 victory over visiting Las Vegas.

Cherise Beynon had 18 points, and Mandy Chitwood added 10 points for the Pioneers, who led 36-7 at halftime. Daijhan Cooks had eight points, 20 rebounds and four blocks for Canyon Springs.

Shomari Harris scored 13 points for the Wildcats.

Shadow Ridge 38, Sierra Vista 36 — At Shadow Ridge, Kaila Hurley notched nine points and 12 rebounds, including key defensive rebounds late in the game, as the Mustangs held off the Mountain Lions.

Aubree Nish chipped in eight points for Shadow Ridge, which overcame a 10-2 first-quarter deficit.

Kennedy Nieves scored 12 points, and Maranda Ramos added 10 points for Sierra Vista.

Spring Valley 41, Palo Verde 38 — At Palo Verde, Shawna Patterson scored 10 points to lead the Grizzlies over the Panthers.

Spring Valley outscored Palo Verde 15-9 in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Ivana Ganeva scored 10 points for the Panthers.

Foothill 60, Basic 57 —
At Foothill, Anaya Rodisha scored 17 points as the Falcons nipped the Wolves.

Taylor Turney added nine points for Foothill, which forced a turnover in the final second to preserve the win.

Jayla Brown led Basic with 34 points, and teammate Raevyn Allen scored 10 points.

Green Valley 65, Silverado 58 — At Green Valley, Maggie Manwarren had 26 points to help the Gators top the Skyhawks.

The Gators led by one with about 1:30 to play when Ellee Barton and Manwarren had consecutive layups to help Green Valley pull away.

Rianna Rudolph added 17 points for the Gators.

Brittany Loguidice had 32 points for Silverado, which got 12 points from Jasmyn Garcia.

Coronado 60, Eldorado 28 — At Eldorado, Ashley Johnson scored 14 points, and Sofie Cruz added 11 points to help lead the Cougars to a victory over the Sundevils.

Dajah Washington supplied 10 points for Coronado, which raced to a 36-10 halftime lead.

Denisheun Jackson and Desia Walker each had 11 points for Eldorado.

Liberty 61, Del Sol 29 — At Liberty, Paris Strawther had 18 points and 12 rebounds to help the Patriots to the lopsided win.

Sydney Clark added 10 points for Liberty.

Chloe Cabanas led Del Sol with 12 points, and Melissa DeSantiago scored 10 for the Dragons.

Valley 65, Rancho 35 — At Rancho, Tyricia Payne scored 25 points, and Gabby Cabanero added 20 points to lead the Vikings by the Rams.

Kennedy Wharton added 11 points for Valley.

Kanosha Grey scored 16 points to lead Rancho.

Lincoln County 48, Lake Mead 44 — At Panaca, Jaycee Wadsworth scored 15 points, and the Lynx moved into a first-place tie in the Division III Southern League with a victory over the Eagles.

Elle Scott and Kourtney Gloeckner added nine points apiece for Lincoln County, which outscored the Eagles 17-5 in the second quarter.

Taylor Badua-Kono led Lake Mead with 21 points.

Parowan (Utah) 39, Pahranagat Valley 26 —
At Alamo, Chennin Benson scored 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Rams by the Panthers.

Traci Strong had 11 points, and Kennedy Huntsman grabbed 10 rebounds for the Panthers.

Legacy and Canyon Springs couldn’t keep up in the Class 4A girls basketball state semifinals. The Southern Region representatives in 3A also were eliminated.
