ROUNDUP: Aggies’ win leaves Northwest title still up for grabs; random draw to be held Friday

Chandler Yoder had a goal and an assist Thursday to allow Arbor View’s girls soccer team to move into a three-way tie for first place in the Northwest League with a 2-1 win over visiting Shadow Ridge.

Breanna Larkin also scored for the Aggies, who played shorthanded after receiving a red card 10 minutes into the match.

Arbor View, which beat both Palo Verde and the Mustangs in the final week of the season, finished in a tie with both teams at 8-2 in the Northwest. Each team went 2-2 in head-to-head competition, and head-to-head goal differential is also even.

Under Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association rules, the tie should be broken by coin toss. With three teams involved, the NIAA will instead determine the league’s No. 1 seed for the Sunset Region playoffs by random draw on Friday morning. The result will be posted on NevadaPreps.com after the draw.

The winning team will be the No. 1 seed and the remaining teams will be sent into a two-team tiebreaker that will be decided by the team that won the last meeting. Arbor View won the last meeting against both the Panthers and the Mustangs. Palo Verde won the last meeting against Shadow Ridge, which can not end up as the No. 2 seed.

Palo Verde 4, Sierra Vista 0 — At Palo Verde, Christene Whitaker had two goals and an assist as the Panthers blanked the Mountain Lions

Serenity Grim and Alexa D’Acunto also scored for the Panthers, who got two assists from Lana Laudermilch.

Jordan Goyeau made one save en route to the shutout.

Eldorado 3, Coronado 3 — At Eldorado, Autumn Moore’s goal with eight minutes left in the match allowed the Sundevils to rally for a tie against the Cougars.

Cristal Mendoza had a goal and an assist, and Hannah Pewtress scored for Eldorado, which got two assists from Kim Olivares.

Breanna McCallum had two goals, and Kara Kopolow dished out two assists for Coronado, which clinched the Southeast League title. Kathleen Cuevas also scored for the Cougars.

Foothill 1, Basic 0 — At Foothill, Myriah Epino’s goal with 11 minutes to play accounted for all of the scoring as the Falcons nipped the Wolves.

Rachel Kole made two saves to earn the shutout for Foothill, which held an 18-2 advantage in shots on goal.

Canyon Springs 4, Rancho 3 — At Rancho, Rosaura Guerrero-Escobedo scored four goals, including the final three of the match, to rally the Pioneers from a 3-1 deficit to a win over the Rams.

Chanel Eliason scored two goals, and Vianey Bracho had one goal for Rancho.

Green Valley 1, Las Vegas 0 — At Green Valley, Kayla Anderson’s first-half goal was enough for the Gators to nip the Wildcats.

Nicole Dunn made four saves to earn the shutout.

Liberty 6, Del Sol 1 — At Liberty, Valentina Cvrk tallied three goals to lead the Patriots past the Dragons.

Vanessa Martinez, Mackenzie Malkilewicz and Sierra Gilliland also scored for Liberty, which got two assists from April Ficarotta.

Nancy Garcia scored for Del Sol.

Silverado 6, Valley 0 — At Valley, Krista Lee had two goals as the Skyhawks routed the Vikings.

Kayla McKenna, Danielle Parven, Nina Jensen and Taylor Petrillo also scored for Silverado.

Taylor Lommason recorded the shutout.

Spring Valley 0, Durango 0 — At Durango, the Grizzlies and Trailblazers battled to a scoreless tie.

Spring Valley’s Teeyahna Mitchell and Durango’s Emily Casale each recorded a shutout.
