Boyd, Basic top Del Sol in rout

Devonte Boyd caught two touchdown passes and returned a punt for a score to lead Basic’s football team to a 44-21 home win over Del Sol on Thursday.

Boyd hauled in nine passes for 172 yards, including scoring strikes of 23 and 31 yards from Jaylen Rose. Boyd also scored on a 42-yard punt return and made two interceptions for the Wolves (6-1, 3-0 Southeast League).

Boyd’s punt return and 23 yard touchdown catch came in the span of 69 seconds in the third quarter.

Antraye Johnson scored on rushes of 18 and 12 yards to help Basic build a 17-7 halftime lead. Jon Scoffield added a 47-yard touchdown run for Basic.

Rose completed 15 of 21 passes for 225 yards.

Del Sol quarterback Dylan Greer threw a 39-yard touchdown pass to Romance Oliver and had a 1-yard scoring run.

Austin Higgins added a 14-yard touchdown run for the Dragons (1-6, 0-3).
