Eagles edge Rattlers in season opener

Boulder City's J.D. Owens and D. J. Koopman ran for touchdowns and Billy Viera threw a pair of 2-point conversion passes to lift the Eagles to a 16-13 win over visiting Mojave in the opener for both teams.

Owens rushed for 86 yards on 21 carries and Koopman supplied 80 yards on 14 carries. The Rattlers cut the deficit to three on a late touchdown catch, but Boulder City was able to run out the clock.

Ty Flanagan rushed for 95 yards on 10 carries for Mojave. Tyreek Carter had a 30-yard interception return for a score for the Rattlers.
