SMALL SCHOOLS: Tobler leads Boulder City girls to early lead in 3A meet

Jessica Tobler won two events to lead Boulder City’s girls track team to the lead after the first day of the Class 3A Southern League meet at Moapa Valley.

Tobler took the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 32.26 seconds and the 3,200 in 12:09.12 to lead the Eagles to 41 points. Moapa Valley is second with 34 points, followed by Virgin Valley at 18.

The meet concludes Saturday at Moapa Valley.

In the boys 3A meet, Moapa Valley won five events on its way to 35 points, taking the lead on Boulder City (29) and Virgin Valley (29).

The Meadows is tied with White Pine at 86 points for the lead in the 2A Southern League girls meet.

The Meadows’ Lauren Henry broke her own league record in the 100 in 12.42, eclipsing the old mark of 12.9. Henry also ran on the 400 relay team, which won in a league-record 52.88 seconds.

White Pine leads the boys meet with 98 points, followed by Laughlin (81) and Calvary Chapel (44).
Calvary Chapel’s Cameron Murphy set a league record in the 400 in 49.62.

Beatty’s girls won five events on their way to 143 points and a commanding lead over Tonopah (46), Indian Springs (44) and Lund (43) in the 1A girls meet.

The Hornets’ Ana Martinez won the 100 in 14.07 and the pole vault at 7 feet, and teammate Carey Johnson won the 300 hurdles in 54.74 and the triple jump at 31-2.

Spring Mountain’s boys won four events on their way to a commanding 128-58 lead on Tonopah. Beatty is third with 45 points.
