Gneiting, Panthers rally to hold off Wildcats in five sets

Trent Gneiting had 32 kills, 11 digs and three aces Friday to help Palo Verde’s boys volleyball team edge visiting Las Vegas High, 20-25, 28-26, 25-20, 24-26, 15-13, to hand the Wildcats their first loss of the year to an in-state opponent.

Andrew Weston dished out 55 assists, and Jordyn Martin added 14 kills, nine digs and four blocks for the Panthers.

Garrett Jones led Las Vegas with 21 kills and 16 digs. Evany Diaz added 52 assists, and teammate Jace Turner had 14 kills for the Wildcats.
