ROUNDUP: Ponce, Kapeli win twice each as Patriot boys hold off Falcons

Martin Ponce and Jordan Kapeli each won two events Wednesday to help Liberty’s boys track team edge host Foothill, 73-72.

Ponce won the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 8.6 seconds, and the 1,600 in 4:50.9.

Kapeli won the shot put with a mark of 49 feet, 10½ inches, and took the discus with a throw of 136-0.

Jones leads Mountain Lions to win
At The Meadows, Andrew Jones won the shot put at 36-4¼ and the discus at 114-10 to lead Sierra Vista (76 points) past Clark (60) and The Meadows (23).

Clark’s Mucuranyana Amon won the 1,600 in 5:07.9 and the 3,200 in 10:53.9.

Robinson helps Wildcats top Cowboys
At Chaparral, Raymone Robinson won two events to lead Las Vegas High to an 84-62 victory over the Cowboys.

Robinson won the 200 in 24.4 and the 400 in 53.5.

Chaparral’s Toure’ Williams won the 110 hurdles in 15.4 and the 300 hurdles in 43.3, Antonio Thomas took the 100 in 11.8 and the long jump at 18-9, and James Bryant won the high jump at 6-0 and the triple jump at 37-7.

Davis leads Bulldogs to win
At Centennial, Kenric Davis won the 100 in 10.8 and the 200 in 23.8 to lead the Bulldogs (106 points) past Cimarron-Memorial (46) and Word of Life (2).

Cimarron’s Marques Price won the 110 hurdles in 16.0 and the 300 hurdles in 43.8.

GIRLS

Falcons use depth to top Patriots
At Foothill, the Falcons won six of eight individual running events en route to a 75-66 win over Liberty.

Liberty’s Gabrielle Palazzolo won the pole vault (9-0), long jump (14-9) and triple jump (31-0½), and teammate Ashlie Blake was first in the shot put (46-7½) and discus (137-0).

O’Neal, Sierra Vista sprint to victory
At The Meadows, Morgan O’Neal won the 100 in 12.9 and the 200 in 27.8 to lead Sierra Vista (73 points) past Clark (44) and The Meadows (39).

The Meadows’ Jinks Heerema won the 800 in 2:45.1 and the 1,600 in 5:39.4.

Brinkley leads Cowboys past Wildcats
At Chaparral, Dawnesha Brinkley won the high jump at 4-2 and the 300 hurdles in 57.8 to lead the Cowboys to a 63-59 victory over Las Vegas High.

Las Vegas’ Creshonda Carter won the 100 in 12.9 and the 200 in 26.4, and Lauryn Horstdaniel took the 800 in 2:46.6 and the 1,600 in 6:14.

Bonds, Bulldogs cruise to win
At Centennial, Tiana Bonds won the 100 in 12.8 and the 400 in 58.4 to lead the Bulldogs to an easy win in a three-team meet.

Centennial won with 143 points, followed by Cimarron-Memorial with 25. Word of Life did not score.
