ROUNDUP: Butler’s heads-up play helps Wildcat girls edge Vikings

Shaleea Butler stole an inbounds pass and layed it in at the buzzer Friday to give Las Vegas High’s girls basketball team a 55-54 win at Valley.

Matti Ventling had 24 points, and Shomari Harris scored 12 for the Wildcats, who overcame a 42-33 deficit after three quarters.

Valley led 54-51 after a rebound basket by Tyricia Payne with 13 seconds left.

Harris then scored on a driving layup, and Las Vegas called timeout with 4.3 seconds to play. Butler stole the inbounds pass, and got the layup to go as time expired.

Payne had 20 points, 11 rebounds, eight steals and seven assists for Valley, which made only 4 of 14 free throws in the fourth quarter.

Kennedy Wharton added 16 points, and NayNay Thomas supplied eight points and 10 rebounds for the Vikings.

Sierra Vista 57, Spring Valley 54 — At Sierra Vista, Enas Ajaj hit a layup with a minute to go to secure the Mountain Lions’ victory over the Grizzlies.

Jasmine Suarez had 16 points and six assists to lead Sierra Vista, and teammate Kailyn Randle finished with 13 points. Melia Tadytin supplied 11 points for the Mountian Lions.

DeTiese Moore led Spring Valley with 19 points. Jessica Stevens scored 11 points, and Shauna Patterson had 10 points for the Grizzlies.

Desert Oasis 61, Durango 33 — At Durango, Tatiana Kearn scored 16 points, and Brianna Osorio added 12 points to help the Diamondbacks cruise past the Trailblazers.

Jasmine Thomas had 16 points, and Darea’l Thomas had 15 rebounds for Durango. 

Cheyenne 55, Arbor View 42 — At Cheyenne, LaJuana Brown tallied 22 points and nine rebounds, and the Desert Shields used a 20-5 second-quarter run to down the Aggies.

Brea Thompson added 19 points for Cheyenne.

Janae Strode and Kelsey Rasore each had 11 points for Arbor View.

Faith Lutheran 61, Mojave 8 — At Mojave, Sam Leonard scored 14 points to help the Crusaders roll past the Rattlers.

Kelsey McCourt added 11 points for Faith Lutheran, which used a 23-0 second-quarter run to put it away.

Centennial 69, Cimarron-Memorial 13 — At Cimarron, Shelby Valentine had 16 points, and the Bulldogs held the Spartans scoreless in the first and fourth quarters on their way to an easy win.

Paige Barber added 13 points, and Tamera Williams scored 10 for Centennial.

Traci Parks and Taya Harper each had six points for Cimarron.

Palo Verde 58, Shadow Ridge 25 — At Shadow Ridge, Jasmin Kiley scored 12 points, and the Panthers used a 36-14 spurt during the middle two quarters to blitz the Mustangs.

Jenise McKnight and Lily Tapusoa added 10 points apiece for Palo Verde.

Ciera DaPra led Shadow Ridge with nine points.

Canyon Springs 72, Sunrise Mountain 23 — At Sunrise Mountain, Kiara Washington and Cherise Beynon each tallied 16 points to help the Pioneers roll past the Miners.

Pearl Paulo and Daijhan Cooks each had 13 points, and Mandy Chitwood scored 10 for Canyon Springs.

Kimdre’ana Jefferies led Sunrise Mountain with eight points.

Chaparral 47, Desert Pines 43 — At Chaparral, Tichina Savoy had 13 points and six assists to help the Cowboys rally past the Jaguars.

Kiona Gray had 10 points to help Chaparral, which took the lead for good with two minutes remaining.

Teammate Rebecca Vasquez added nine points and 11 rebounds.

Cydney Myles led Desert Pines with 12 points.

Bishop Gorman 65, Pahrump Valley 17 — At Pahrump, Tonishia Childress scored 18 points to lead the Gaels in an easy win over the Trojans.

Yassemeen Sadullah added 16 points for Gorman.

Bonanza 62, Clark 45 — At Bonanza, Alyssa Powers had 19 points and four assists to lead the Bengals past the Chargers.

Diamond Pace had 14 points, and Tanganika Hunt scored 13 for Bonanza, which got 18 rebounds and five blocks from Jess Gallegos.

Bobbi Floyd led Clark with 16 points. 

Rancho 38, Eldorado 24 — At Rancho, Kanosha Grey and LaKissa Martin each scored 12 points to lead the Rams past the Sundevils.

Deniseun Jackson led Eldorado with 16 points.

Boulder City 63, Tech 24 — At Boulder City, Janika Ross had 12 points and six steals to help the Eagles defeat the Roadrunners.

Karlee Koopman added 10 points for Boulder City, which led 30-9 at the half.

Melynda Hathaway led Tech with nine points.

Virgin Valley 70, Moapa Valley 50 — At Overton, Abbie Barnard scored 18 of her 29 points in the first half as the Bulldogs built a 40-21 lead and cruised past the Pirates.

Josie Grajek added 12 points, and Nikki Arquette supplied 11 points for Virgin Valley.

Ashley Noto led Moapa Valley with 17 points, and teammate Chanel LaCroix scored 10.

Mountain View 63, Laughlin 39 — At Mountain View, Briana Marruffo had 22 points, and the Saints bolted to a 37-13 halftime lead on their way to a win over the Cougars.

Rose Adkins added 17 points, and Kiley Murphy scored 10 for Mountain View.

Ruby Mackey paced Laughlin with 12 points.

Needles 49, Agassi Prep 32 — At Needles, Calif., Holly Laswell scored 15 points to lead the Mustangs by the Stars.

Abby Chandler added 12 points for Needles, which took over in the second quarter after trailing 11-8 early.

Noelle Chavis led Agassi Prep with 10 points.

Lincoln County 47, The Meadows 14 — At The Meadows, Tia Florence led a balanced attack with 10 points as the Lynx downed the Mustangs.

Anjali Daulat had seven points for The Meadows.

Pahranagat Valley 58, Indian Springs 25 — At Alamo, Kimberly Lewis had 17 points and nine rebounds to lead the Panthers past the Thunderbirds.

Bailee Hosier scored 12 points, and Kyla Mortensen supplied nine points and nine rebounds for Pahranagat Valley, which led 35-4 at the half.

Alexxa Reinke paced Indian Springs with eight points.

Lund 29, Sandy Valley 20 — At Sandy Valley, Melynda Boren scored 14 points to lead the Mustangs by the Sidewinders.

Kenzi Smith led Sandy Valley with 10 points.

Tonopah 55, Beatty 41 — At Tonopah, Courtney Bottom had 16 points and Deanna VanPoucke scored 13 to lead the Muckers by the Hornets.

Melynda Gross scored 21 points for Beatty.
