ROUNDUP: Smokey’s pin helps Aggies hold off Mustangs

Sterlin Smokey recorded a pin at 285 pounds to help Arbor View’s wrestling team edge visiting Shadow Ridge 33-31 on Wednesday.

Smokey recorded the pin in 2 minutes, 36 seconds to give Arbor View a 33-25 lead with two matches to go.

The Mustangs earned a pair of decisions in the final two bouts, but the Aggies held on.

Jake Manning (170) and Brando Cunningham (182) also posted a pin apiece for Arbor View.

The Aggies also rolled to a 76-3 win over Mojave, winning nine matches by forfeit.

Shadow Ridge also received nine forfeits in a 75-3 win over the Rattlers.

Beaman leads Cimarron-Memorial to pair of victories
At Centennial, Austin Beaman (170) won twice by pin to lead Cimarron-Memorial to a 43-30 victory over Centennial and a 58-18 win over Legacy.

Against Centennial, Cimarron’s Bronson Ashjian (138) had a pin in 5:36, and Chris Colwell (126) earned a pin with one second remaining to help the Spartans outlast the Bulldogs.

Jesse Gamez (120), Mike Levassuer (145) and Lawrence Easley (182) each notched a pin for Centennial against Cimarron.

Cimarron won all but three contested matches against Legacy.

Centennial defeated Legacy 51-24 in the other dual behind pins from Josh Bird (138), Levassuer (145) and Braden Boehme (170).

Navarro leads Jaguars to two wins
At Sunrise Mountain, Michael Navarro (138) won twice by pin to lead Desert Pines to a 56-21 rout of Sunrise Mountain and a 54-27 win over Valley.

Desert Pines also got pins from Cody Tolliver (220), Edward Pena (113), Ardin Heki (152) and Eglin Prastin-Orozco (106) against Sunrise Mountain.

Against Valley, the Jaguars gained 48 points from forfeits to cruise to the win.

Sunrise Mountain won eight matches by forfeit on its way to a 54-23 win over Valley in the other dual.

Virgin Valley tops Las Vegas, Rancho
At Rancho, Virgin Valley used three pins to edge Las Vegas, 30-27.

The Bulldogs also got five pins in a 49-30 win over Rancho.

In the other match, Las Vegas topped Rancho, 39-34.

Panthers post pair of shutouts
At Palo Verde, Drew Ferguson (106), Ryan Ratliff (195) and William Mason (220) each won two matches by pin as the Panthers dominated Faith Lutheran and Cheyenne, beating both teams 78-0.

Faith Lutheran edged Cheyenne 39-36 in the other match.
