RECRUITING: Basic’s Sanders commits to Rebels

J’Ondray Sanders likes the fact that UNLV’s football program is continuing to shift to more of a power running offense.

The Basic senior offensive tackle is excited to become a part of it.

Sanders committed to UNLV on Wednesday, immediately accepting a scholarship offer from the Rebels.

“I feel like I’ll be a great help to what they want to achieve,” Sanders said. “I can run block and pass block. I’m balanced with either one.”

The 6-foot-5-inch, 250-pound Sanders also received interest from Southern Utah, but he added that UNLV was scouting him “for a while now.”

Sanders was a first-team All-Southeast League selection as a senior, helping pave the way for the Wolves (6-5) to reach the Sunrise Region semifinals.

Sanders said he was thrilled to get the chance to stay local and play college football.

“It’s the best feeling I’ve ever felt before,” he said.
