REGIONALS: Rain continues to be biggest winner
October 5, 2011 - 9:29 pm
Green Valley and Eldorado were to have played their Sunrise Region girls quarterfinal tennis match Monday.
But rain forced postponement of that match until Tuesday.
Then Wednesday. And now until Thursday.
The Gators and Sundevils actually got through two rounds of play Wednesday before having to stop the match due to rain, with Green Valley leading 7-5.
They’ll try to complete the match this morning, with the winner advancing to meet Liberty this afternoon in a region semifinal match.
Rain also halted play in the two Sunset Region girls semifinal matches Wednesday; Palo Verde led Bonanza 6-0 and Bishop Gorman was up 6-2 on The Meadows when the matches were suspended.
Both matches are scheduled to be completed this afternoon, which is also when the boys region semifinals are scheduled.
Four matches finished Wednesday.
