ROUNDUP: Baca, Aggies edge closer to playoffs with rout of Mustangs

Chelsa Baca went 4-for-4 with two runs and an RBI on Thursday as Arbor View’s softball team moved to within one game of fourth place in the Northwest League with a 16-6 win at Shadow Ridge in six innings.

Kristina Billante was 3-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs for the Aggies, which has won three league games in as many days to improve to 6-7 in league play and a share of fifth place with Legacy. Both teams are a game behind Shadow Ridge.

Dacia Sykes was 3-for-4 with a triple and a double, and Ashlyn Ames and Nichole Diaz each added three hits for Arbor View.

Danielle Buecker paced Shadow Ridge, going 4-for-4 with two RBIs. Krislyn Campos was 3-for-3 with a triple and an RBI, and Taylor Velarde went 2-for-2 with a double for the Mustangs.

Cimarron-Memorial 4, Legacy 2 — At Cimarron, Carli Stafford went 1-for-2 with a two-run triple as the Spartans did all of their scoring in the third inning and held off the Longhorns.

Carrie Sheehan tossed a seven-hitter and struck out 11 for Cimarron.

Legacy’s Sierra Pico was 2-for-4 with an RBI and fired a five-hitter with 11 strikeouts.

Palo Verde 13, Cheyenne 5 — At Cheyenne, Melissa Lacro went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and the Panthers rallied from a 5-1 deficit after four innings to down the Desert Shields.

Danielle Hearn and Breanna Beatty each added a double and two RBIs for Palo Verde, which scored seven runs in the sixth inning to pull away.

Vanessa Sanders hit a two-run homer for Cheyenne, and teammate Melanie Manley supplied a double, a single and two RBIs.

Centennial 22, Mojave 5 — At Mojave, Alyssa Finger went 4-for-5 with a home run, two doubles and five RBIs as the Bulldogs routed the Rattlers in five innings.

Kassidy Merritt was 3-for-5 with two doubles, and Kelli Hans went 3-for-4 with a triple, two runs and an RBI.

Mia Acuna and Katelynn Rauskin each added two doubles for the Bulldogs.

Bishop Gorman 13, Western 1 — At Western, Gracie Martinez tossed a no-hitter to lead the Gaels past the Warriors in five innings.

O’Sheyon Rollins went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three stolen bases to help Gorman, which took over with seven runs in the fourth inning.

Western scored on an unearned run in the fourth inning.

Durango 20, Spring Valley 10 — At Durango, Samantha Juarez, Mindy Larson and Nicole Schultz homered as the Traiblazers outslugged the Grizzlies.

Juarez’s two-run homer highlighted a nine-run second inning for Durango, and Larson and Schultz combined for six hits.

Sindy Cummings and Jessica Martinez each had three hits for Spring Valley.

Pahrump Valley 19, Sierra Vista 6 — At Sierra Vista, Sara Williams was 3-for-5 with a triple, a double and two RBIs, and Miranda Monje went 4-for-5 with an RBI double as the Trojans used a 10-run first inning to defeat the Mountain Lions in five innings.

Mallory Cole went 4-for-4 with three RBIs, and Sara Zinecker added three hits and an RBI for Pahrump, which got two hits and two RBIs from Kellie Murphy.

Kalene Sales-Watkins homered for Sierra Vista, and teammates Alexis Land and Michelle Estelle each added two hits.

Faith Lutheran 18, Virgin Valley 10 — At Mesquite, Maya Barnes was 4-for-6 with a home run, two doubles and six RBIs, and Ashley Gord went 4-for-4 with three RBIs as the Crusaders overcame an early 6-2 deficit and downed the Bulldogs.

Kelly Zufall was 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and three runs for Faith Lutheran.
