ROUNDUP: Shaw, Brown direct Cheyenne girls past Cimarron

Britnee Shaw and Lajuana Brown combined for 15 points during a pivotal 22-9 second-quarter run Wednesday as Cheyenne’s girls basketball team collected a 65-59 win at Cimarron-Memorial.

Shaw, who finished with a game-high 24 points, scored eight during the stretch. Brown tallied seven of her 16 points in the second quarter as the Desert Shields built a 33-21 halftime lead and held off the Spartans.

Hannah Tatum added 12 points for Cheyenne.

Traci Parks led Cimarron with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Amber Butler scored 14 points, and Tyler Simpson contributed 13 points for the Spartans.

Palo Verde 57, Mojave 53 — At Palo Verde, Jasmin Kiley had 13 points as the Panthers took an 11-point lead into the fourth quarter and outlasted the Rattlers.

Lily Tapusoa added 11 points for Palo Verde.

Jazzmine Robinson paced Mojave with 13 points. Alexandria Thiel added 11 points, and Teaira Shorter scored 10 for the Rattlers.

Legacy 65, Faith Lutheran 34 — At Legacy, Latia Matthews had 14 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Longhorns past the Crusaders.

Shakita Cox supplied 18 points, four rebounds and four assists for Legacy, which got 11 points and seven rebounds from Makayla Hicks.

Kelsey McCourt led Faith Lutheran with 13 points.

Centennial 89, Arbor View 21 — At Centennial, Ashley Klemz had  23 points, and Breanna Workman supplied 18 points as the Bulldogs routed the Aggies.

Jada Brown scored 11 points, and Tamera Williams had 10 points for Centennial.

Jena Valenzuela and Darie Martin each scored six points to lead Arbor View.

Bishop Gorman 75, Durango 27 — At Gorman, Zhane Dikes led a balanced attack with 16 points, and the Gaels raced to a 41-10 halftime lead in a rout of the Trailblazers.

Julia Ewalefo and Amber Lane each added 13 points, and Megan Carter scored 10 for Gorman.

Jasmine Thomas paced Durango with 10 points.

Spring Valley 51, Bonanza 33 — At Spring Valley, Jessica Stevens scored 14 points, and Shauna Patterson added 13 points to help lead the Grizzlies past the Bengals.

Jana Espiritu contributed eight points for Spring Valley, which used an 18-2 first-quarter burst to pull away.

Tranee Jenkins led Bonanza with 13 points.

Sierra Vista 74, Western 39 — At Western, Jeanette Jackson scored 28 points as the Mountain Lions rolled to a victory over the Warriors.

Melia Tadytin and Marley Wakeen each scored 17 points for Sierra Vista.

Brandi Jackson had 12 points, and Aleya Ford-Wheaton added 10 points for Western.

Pahrump Valley 33, Clark 27 — At Clark, Alyson Kunzi poured in 20 points, and the Trojans used a 13-4 run in the third quarter to down the Chargers.

Angelena Cook led Clark with 10 points.

Valley 47, Chaparral 30 — At Chaparral, Shayna Porter scored 17 points, and the Vikings outscored the Cowboys, 14-2 in the third quarter to take control.

Christina Davis added 15 points for Valley, which trailed, 15-14 at the half.

Jacquie Ferguson led Chaparral with 16 points, and Tichina Savoy scored 12 for the Cowboys.

Canyon Springs 40, Rancho 33 — At Rancho, Cherise Beynon scored 12 points to help the Pioneers hold off the Rams.

Kenosha Wright chipped in eight points for Canyon Springs, which used a 22-15 run in the second half to pull away.

Tyricia Payne led Rancho with 17 points, and Kanosha Grey added eight points.

Las Vegas 61, Sunrise Mountain 32 — At Las Vegas High, Shomari Harris scored 14 points to help the Wildcats defeat the Miners.

Matti Ventling added 11 points, and Daresheoun Lee scored 10 for Las Vegas, which led 21-6 after the first quarter.

Jasmine Jones paced Sunrise Mountain with 13 points.

Eldorado 58, Desert Pines 52 — At Eldorado, the Sundevils held off the Jaguars.

TaQuiyyah Boyles led Desert Pines with 28 points.

Moapa Valley 47, Shadow Ridge 33 — At Overton, Hanna Leavitt scored 11 points to help the Pirates defeat the Mustangs.

Leavitt hit three 3-pointers, including one from beyond halfcourt at the end of the first half.

Paige Leavitt added eight points, and Amanda Campbell had seven points and 15 rebounds for the Pirates.

Niki Lawson led Shadow Ridge with nine points.
