ROUNDUP: Gomez’s second-half tally leads Desert Pines to upset of Rancho

Vanessa Gomez scored the lone goal of the match midway through the second half Tuesday to help Desert Pines’ girls soccer team surprise host Rancho, 1-0.
Jackeleen Pelaz assisted on the goal, which helped the Jaguars hand the Rams their first loss in Northeast League play.
Ivy Urbano made six saves to earn the shutout for Desert Pines.
Las Vegas 2, Canyon Springs 1 — At Las Vegas High, Sarah Cook and Yesenia Gex each scored a goal as the Wildcats took over sole possession of first place in the Northeast by beating the Pioneers.
Cindy Cruz-Lopez tallied Canyon Springs’ goal.
Eldorado 8, Chaparral 0 — At Eldorado, Teresa Barajas and Marisela Vasquez each netted two goals in the Sundevils’ rout of the Cowboys.
Alexis Sama added a goal and an assist, and Maria Bonsignore, Brandy Sanchez and Kim Oliverez each had a goal for Eldorado, which got two assists from Sabrina Justice.
Nias Olaiz made three saves to earn the shutout.
Sunrise Mountain 1, Valley 1 — At Valley, the Miners’ Crystal Franco and the Vikings’ Morgan Baker each tallied a first-half goal as the teams played to a draw.
Basic 2, Tech 2 — At Tech, Rachael Montoya and Tamera Grieves scored a goal apiece to rally the Roadrunners from a 2-0 deficit and earn a draw with the Wolves.
Liliana Lugo and Nikki Mullins scored early in the second half for Basic.
Silverado 3, Foothill 2 — At Foothill, Rosalba Barbosa scored twice, and the Skyhawks broke a 2-2 tie with eight minutes remaining to nip the Falcons.
Christina Hertz added a goal for Silverado.
Elizabeth Philpot recorded both of Foothill’s goals.
Coronado 4, Del Sol 1 — At Del Sol, Nia Moreno, Kathleen Cuevas, Gabriella Morris and Breanna McCallum each netted a goal to help the Cougars top the Dragons.
Cuevas added three assists, and Moreno had one assist
Alicia Villa converted a penalty kick for Del Sol’s goal.
