CLASS 2A ALL-STATE: Mustangs’ Hall, Eagles’ Newton on first team

The Meadows senior setter Vanessa Hall and Lake Mead senior outside hitter Ashley Newton were named to the Class 2A all-state volleyball team.
Hall and Newton are the lone Southern Nevada representatives listed on the first team.
Makenna Lommori from state champion Yerington was named most valuable player, and three Lions teammates — Alex Roberts, Brooke Aiazzi and Maddie Hull-Taylor — were named to the first team.
State runner-up Whittell also had three first-team honorees: Darby Reeder, Megan Mize and Rachel Laub.
The Meadows’ Kathryn Chakmak, Lake Mead’s Heather Hillenbrand and Calvary Chapel’s Brettani Davis are among eight players on the second team.
