ROUNDUP: Borjas gives Valley spin on Northeast’s first-place carousel

Julio Borjas’ goal midway through the second half Wednesday lifted Valley’s boys soccer team into first place in the Northeast League with a 1-0 win over visiting Desert Pines.
The Vikings (7-1-5, 6-0-4 Northeast) are the third different team to hold the top spot in the league this week.
Desert Pines (8-3-2, 6-2-2) leapfrogged Canyon Springs for the penthouse by beating the Pioneers on Monday. Valley knocked the Jaguars out of first on Wednesday.
Jesus Barrientos and Juan Carlos Gomez combined on the shutout for Valley.
Las Vegas 2, Chaparral 0 — At Chaparral, Edwin Urrutia scored twice in the second half to give the Wildcats a win over the Cowboys.
Roger Zaragoza made four saves to record Las Vegas’ fifth consecutive shutout.
Eldorado 1, Canyon Springs 0 — At Canyon Springs, Christian Perez’s first-half goal accounted for all of the scoring as the Sundevils beat the Pioneers.
Daniel Perez made five saves to earn the shutout.
Rancho 2, Sunrise Mountain 2 — At Sunrise Mountain, Eduardo Enciso tallied two second-half goals as the Miners rallied from a 2-0 halftime deficit to earn a draw with the Rams.
Juan Acosta scored twice for Rancho.
Del Sol 4, Silverado 2 — At Silverado, Eric Beil scored two goals and notched an assist to lead the Dragons past the Skyhawks.
Roberto Perez and Jesse Romero each added a goal for Del Sol.
Dakota Hallaway and Chase Leaders notched a goal apiece for Silverado, which got both assists from Devin Diego.
Tech 11, Foothill 1 — At Tech, Edwin Lopez had three goals and two assists, and Jesus Herrera and Oscar Velazquez each added two goals and two assists as the Roadrunners scored the final 11 goals of the match and routed the Falcons.
Luis Carranza added two goals, and Abel Hernandez and Julio Vargas also scored a goal apiece for Tech.
Christian Volesky’s goal off a free kick in the opening seconds of the match gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead.
Coronado 2, Green Valley 0 — At Green Valley, Jacob Goodman and Chance Phifer each scored a second-half goal as the Cougars (9-0-7) ran their season-long unbeaten streak to 16 matches with a win over the Gators.
Danny Sellitti recorded five saves to earn the shutout for Coronado.
Basic 4, Liberty 1 — At Liberty, Junior Valdez scored two goals to lead the Wolves past the Patriots.
Weston Crum and Lex Freeman added a goal apiece for Basic.
Daniel Musovski scored for Liberty.
GIRLS
Boulder City 3, Virgin Valley 0 — At Mesquite, Tasja Toumasis scored twice, and Ashlyn Jorgensen added a goal as the Eagles blanked the Bulldogs.
Goalkeeper Mikaela Stevens notched the shutout for Boulder City.
