ROUNDUP: Gorman boys take top three spots, blitz to win

Julian Jalani completed a 2.5-mile race in 13 minutes, 48 seconds Wednesday to help host Bishop Gorman’s boys to a 20-46 victory over Spring Valley.
Gorman had the top three finishers in the race as Shawn Smith placed second in 14:03 and Eric Klein took third in 14:40.
Spring Valley’s Royce Rasmussen finished fourth in 15:35.
Abbott, Eldorado win three-team meet
At Eldorado, Collin Abbott won a 2.5-mile race in 15:37 and helped the Sundevils easily claim a three-team meet.
Eldorado had a team score of 23. Desert Pines was second with 46, followed by Virgin valley with 54.
The Jaguars’ Antonio Waller took second in 15:58. Anthony Chavez added third place for Eldorado in 16:36.
Faith Lutheran takes top four spots in four-team meet
At Legacy, Faith Lutheran took the top four individual places and won a four-team meet with 21 points.
The Crusaders’ Anthony Ponticello won the 3.1-mile race in 18:01. Teammates Gavin Williams (19:25), Alex Rios (19:28) and Al Sprouse (20:26) took the next three spots.
Legacy was second with 35, followed by Mojave (68) and The Meadows (70).
Shelton, Durango claim three-team meet
At Pahrump Valley, Durango’s Matt Shelton won a 2.5-mile race in 15:18 and helped the Trailblazers to victory in a three-team meet.
Durango had a team score of 20. Sierra Vista was second with 39, followed by Pahrump with 90.
Durango’s Nick Ruiz took second place in 15:32. Sierra Vista’s Eddie Meneses was third in 15:36.
Las Vegas wins tiebreaker, takes three-team meet
At Sunrise Mountain, Las Vegas won a sixth-runner tiebreaker against Rancho and claimed a three-team meet.
The Wildcats and Rams each had 31 points, but Las Vegas' No. 6 runner finished ahead of Rancho's to give the Wildcats the win. Sunrise Mountain had 67 points.
Rancho's Tyler Schulz won the 2.5-mile race in 14:51. The Rams' Anthony Pintor was second in 15:04.
Centennial dominates
At Centennial, the Bulldogs claimed nine of the top 10 spots, including the top four, to easily defeat Cimarron-Memorial, 16-46.
Nick Hartle led the Bulldog parade across the finish line, winning the 2.47-mile race in 12:52. Kyle Merritt was second in 13:30, three seconds faster than teammate Dominic Lopez.
GIRLS
Desert Pines’ Marisa Denton claimed first place in a 2.5-mile race, finishing in 19:15 and leading the Jaguars to a win in a four-team meet.
The Jaguars’ team score of 36 edged Chaparral’s 41 points. Eldorado (66) was third, followed by Virgin Valley (83).
The Sundevils’ Gaby Vazquez placed third in 20:36, and Desert Pines’ Keishia Greenhouse finished fourth in 20:38.
Gorman’s Stueve takes race
At Bishop Gorman, Taylor Stueve won a 2.5-mile race in 17:57, and the Gaels were the only team to post a score in the four-team meet.
Spring Valley’s Valerie Armstrong placed second in 18:03. The Grizzlies’ Kristina White was third in 19:31.
Depth helps Crusaders to win
At Legacy, Faith Lutheran had seven runners finish in the top nine and won a four-team meet with 22 points.
The Meadows was second with 48 points, followed by Mojave with 49 and Legacy with 57.
The Meadows’ Megan Alexander won the 3.1-mile race in 22:22.
Faith Lutheran’s Megan Bouch took second in 24:45, with teammate Leah Holleran right behind in 25:03.
Bragg, Mountain Lions boast three-team victory
At Pahrump Valley, Sierra Vista’s Alexandria Bragg won a 2.5-mile race in 21:05 and helped the Mountain Lions to victory in a three-team meet.
Sierra Vista’s team score of 27 was two points better than Durango. Pahrump Valley was third with 81.
The Mountain Lions’ Liz Zatezalo placed second in 21:26, just ahead of Durango’s Austin Martines, who was third in 21:28.
Las Vegas sweeps top five spots
At Sunrise Mountain, Las Vegas runners took the top five spots as the Wildcats were the only squad to post a team score in a three-team meet.
Shelby Nelson won the 2.5-mile race in 18:26. Teammates Jessica Silva (19:17) and Gabrielle Blackburn (19:37) took the next two places.
Centennial runs past Cimarron
At Centennial, Bulldog runners occupied the top five places as Centennial downed Cimarron-Memorial, 15-51.
Sydney Badger won the 2.47-mile race in 17:00. Savannah Anas was second in 17:48, followed by Brianna Roll in 18:12.
