3A REGIONALS: Baeza leads Virgin Valley to title

Virgin Valley’s Ryan Baeza shot 1-over-par 73 at Boulder City Municipal on Thursday to win the Class 3A Southern League Meet individual championship and lead the Bulldogs to the team title.

Virgin Valley won in team scoring with a 393 to clinch the league’s lone spot at the 3A state tournament, which begins Tuesday at Oasis Golf Club in Mesquite.

Moapa Valley was second at 423, followed by Boulder City at 434.

Virgin Valley’s Anthony Lucero took second with a 74, and teammate Lucas Molin was fourth at 79.

Moapa Valley’s Cody Kelly was third with a 77, and teammate Travis Causey took fifth at 81.

In addition to Kelly and Causey, individual state qualifiers were Boulder City’s Tyler Barton (82), Nick Hoffman (84) and Joe Nunley (85), and Moapa Valley’s Marcus Delgadillo (85).
