ROUNDUP: Pico’s three-hitter clinches Northwest title for Longhorns
Sierra Pico tossed a three-hitter with two walks and nine strikeouts Thursday as Legacy’s softball team clinched the Northwest League title with a 5-2 win over visiting Centennial.
Darcey Cochran was 2-for-4, and Hannah Weld went 2-for-3 with a run scored for Legacy.
Bailie Nelson was 2-for-2 with two doubles to lead Centennial.
Cheyenne 25, Mojave 3 — At Mojave, Megan Ingram was 3-for-4 and drove in five runs to lead the Desert Shields past the Rattlers in five innings.
Nina Manley went 3-for-6 with two RBIs and two runs, and Stephanee Fuller was 3-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs for Cheyenne.
Palo Verde 15, Faith Lutheran 0 — At Palo Verde, Lauryn Stover went 2-for-2 with a double, and picked up the win in her first appearance in the circle this season as the Panthers routed the Crusaders in five innings.
Melissa McCormick, Stover and Torri Fenton combined on a two-hitter. Salina Gonzalez was 2-for-2 for the Panthers.
Cimarron-Memorial 12, Shadow Ridge 1 — At Cimarron, Carrie Sheehan tossed a five-inning one-hitter to lead the Spartans to a rout of the Mustangs.
Starlyn Thomas went 3-for-4 with five RBIs, and Sarina Creswell was 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs for Cimarron. Madison Newhard hit 2-for-2 with an RBI for Cimarron.
Bonanza 9, Pahrump Valley 7 — At Pahrump, Nicolette Lind went 2-for-4 with a triple and a double, and Michelle Miller homered and singled as the Bengals rallied from a 7-4 deficit to edge the Trojans.
Miranda Monje was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles for Pahrump.
Desert Oasis 12, Western 0 — At Western, C.J. Wilson tossed a five-inning shutout to lead the Diamondbacks past the Warriors.
Emily Heinz had three hits for Desert Oasis.
Michelle Simon collected two hits for Western.
Clark 15, Spring Valley 12 — At Spring Valley, the Chargers broke an 11-11 tie with four runs in the eighth inning to outslug the Grizzlies.
Shannon Chapman belted a grand slam, and Julia Hagen and Anna Jaehn also homered for the Chargers. Jasmine Fukuda went 3-for-4 with four runs for Clark.
Katie Campo was 3-for-5 with two triples and two runs, and Nicole Lynch was 2-for-5 with two runs and three RBIs for Spring Valley, which stranded the potential winning run at third base in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Green Valley 3, Coronado 2 — At Coronado, Carly Aughney came home with the deciding run on a sixth-inning error as the Gators nipped the Cougars.
Chelsea Anderson went 3-for-3 with an RBI, and Carly Smith was 2-for-3 with a run for Green Valley.
Morgan Yuhas went 3-for-4 with a run for Coronado.
Silverado 18, Del Sol 1 — At Del Sol, Kenna Turner was 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and two RBIs as the Skyhawks blitzed the Dragons in five innings.
Emily Galante finished 3-for-3 with two runs, and Riana Splinter went 2-for-2 with two runs for Silverado.
Shaena Martin had two of Del Sol’s four hits.
Arbor View 12, Foothill 1 — At Foothill, Chelsa Baca went 3-for-5 with two RBIs, and Amanda Jones tossed a five-hitter with 11 strikeouts as the Aggies routed the Falcons.
Berlin Panduro went 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Savanah Webster was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs for Arbor View, which benefitted from 10 errors by Foothill.
Myranda Mortel was 2-for-4 with a double, and Lauren Penksa went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI for the Falcons.
Durango 14, Sierra Vista 0 — At Sierra Vista, Taylor Short and Lauren Benfield combined on a one-hitter as the Trailblazers routed the Mountain Lions in five innings.
Mindy Larson went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, and Kaite Moore, Short and Sam Juarez added two hits apiece for Durango.
