Spring Mountain boys, Laughlin girls run away with Indian Springs Invite titles

Spring Mountain swept the relay races Friday en route to a first-place finish at the Indian Springs Invitational.
 
The Eagles, who also won four individual events, had a team score of 212 to second-place Lincoln County’s 111. Calvary Chapel finished third at 106.
 
Calvary Chapel’s Denzel Morris, Laughlin’s Cody McGeshick and Lincoln County’s Jeremy Avery won two events apiece.
 
Morris took the 100 in 10.9 seconds and the 110 hurdles in 16.5, and McGeshick claimed the 1,600 (5:18) and 3,200 (11:42).
 
Avery captured the long jump with an effort of 18 feet, 8 inches and the triple jump with a mark of 40-3.
 
In the girls meet, Laughlin won three of the four relays and had three individuals each win a race as the Cougars ran away with the team title.
 
Laughlin scored 200 points, more than doubling second-place Lincoln County (99). Calvary Chapel (93) grabbed third.
 
Round Mountain’s Kattrena Akers won four events, taking the 400 (1:04), long jump (15-6½), high jump (4-11) and triple jump (33-8½).
 
Pahranagat Valley’s Alyssa Higbee won the 100 hurdles (16.4) and the 200 (29.0).
