Patriot boys, girls run past Las Vegas

Al Galan, Jordan Kapeli and Toure Vashon each won two events to lead Liberty’s boys track team to an 88-57 home win Thursday over Las Vegas.

Galan placed first in the 1,600-meter run (4 minutes, 38.4 seconds) and 3,200 (11:17.3). Kapeli swept the throws, winning the shot put (47 feet, 11 inches) and discus (143-8), and Vashon took the pole vault (11-9) and long jump (19-8).

GIRLS

Patriots push past Wildcats
At Liberty, Lashay Knapik and Adwoa Fosu each won two events to help Liberty beat Las Vegas, 97-44.

Knapik won the 100 (13.2) and 200 (28.5), and Fosu was first in the 400 (1:04.6) and triple jump (34-0).

Gabrielle Palazolo was first in the long jump (15-0) and finished second in the pole vault and triple jump for the Patriots.
