Melchiorre’s 73 gives Palo Verde first-round edge at Pahrump Valley Invite

Palo Verde boys golfer Kyle Melchiorre shot a 1-over-par 73 Tuesday to top the Gold Flight leaderboard after the first round of the Pahrump Valley Invitational at Mountain Falls Golf Club.

Centennial’s Justin Palmquist is third at 75, followed by Pahrump Valley’s Shane Lindemann, Palo Verde’s Errek McClellan and Virgin Valley’s Ryan Baeza, who are tied for fourth at 76.

Palo Verde Silver is tied for the team lead with Snowflake (Ariz.) at 315, followed closely by Centennial (316), Pahrump Valley Maroon (321), Desert Oasis (326) and Green Valley (330).

In the Silver Flight, eight locals are tied for the individual lead at 84. Arbor View leads the team leaderboard with 345.

In the Maroon Flight, Pahrump Valley’s Josh Spradlin shot a 94 to lead through one round. Virgin Valley (364) topped the team board.
