ROUNDUP: Hanson belts double to give Crusaders first league win
Dylan Hanson’s two-out double to left-center in the bottom of the seventh inning Wednesday scored Daniel Ward and Adam Finlayson to give Faith Lutheran’s baseball team its first Northwest League win of the year over visiting Centennial, 2-1.
Finlayson was 2-for-2 for the Crusaders.
Willie White and Cody Clark each went 2-for-3 for the Bulldogs, who also got a triple from White.
Foothill 8, Green Valley 5 — At Foothill, Jake Ferdinand was 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs, and the Falcons held off a late rally by the Gators.
Dayton Kurian was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs for the Falcons, who took an 8-1 lead into the seventh inning.
Brett Harrison was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs for Green Valley.
Desert Oasis 4, Highland (Calif.) 3 — At Desert Oasis, Brennen Stott’s RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning brought home Jake
Lewis with the winning run as the Diamondbacks nipped Highland.
Lewis started the ninth with a walk and moved to second on a walk to Cody Schmidt, who forced extra innings with a two-out, two-run triple in the seventh inning.
Schmidt finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Dillon Krasn was 2-for-4 with a double and a run.
Arbor View 3, Cimarron-Memorial 2 — At Arbor View, Zack Hartman ripped a two-run double in the third inning to score the go-ahead run as the Aggies nipped the Spartans.
Buddy Borden tossed a complete game, scattering five hits with six strikeouts, to earn the win.
Nick Urban doubled twice and scored two runs, and teammate Brandon LaPointe added a double for Arbor View.
Nate Hale was 2-for-3 with two runs for Cimarron.
Clark 10, Pahrump Valley 9 — At Clark, Brandon Adams smashed a game-winning solo home run over the left field fence in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Chargers edged the Trojans.
Mike Quiroz tossed a complete game for Clark with 11 strikeouts to earn the win, and he also went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
Travis Pullen was 3-for-3 with two RBIs for the Chargers.
Pahrump’s Joe McCaw went 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI, and Tommy Eaton doubled for the Trojans.
Spring Valley 5, Bonanza 0 — At Spring Valley, Aaron Blair fired a three-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts as the Grizzlies beat the Bengals.
Jose Rosales went 2-for-3, and Cameron Cole supplied a triple for Spring Valley.
Silverado 7, Basic 1 — At Basic, Morgan Stotts tossed a three-hitter with five strikeouts and five walks to lead the Skyhawks past the Wolves.
Drew Robinson had a home run and a double for Silverado, and teammate A.J. Ford went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI.
Matt Dembinski had an RBI double for Basic.
Palm Beach Central (Fla.) 2, Bishop Gorman 0 — At Lake Worth, Fla., the Gaels committed four errors in a loss to the Broncos in the National Grand Slam Tournament.
Palm Beach Central scored both runs in the second inning.
Gorman’s Cory Welch tossed a three-hitter with one strikeout and three walks.
Welch and Joey Gallo doubled for the Gaels.
Shadow Ridge 22, Cheyenne 11 — At Cheyenne, Trent Kinney went 4-for-6 with two homers and five RBIs as the Mustangs blitzed the Desert Shields.
Colt Stout was 3-for-5 with a double and four RBIs for Shadow Ridge.
Gil Colon homered, Brandon Show was 3-for-6 with a double and four RBIs, and Brad Liuzza had three hits and two RBIs for Shadow Ridge.
Cheyenne’s Andrew Graham had three hits and an RBI, and Jerraco Lindsey went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs for the Desert Shields.
Coronado 16, Liberty 2 — At Coronado, Steven Pollex was 3-for-3 with a double, triple and two RBIs to lead the Cougars in a rout of the Patriots.
Taylor Giordano threw a two-hitter to earn the win.
Zane Korth was 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs, and Jordan Kingsley and Scott Hauck each had a double for Coronado.
Rancho 11, Valley 1 — At Rancho, Zak Qualls stroked a three-run homer, and Brandon Pletsch doubled and tripled as the Rams beat the Vikings in five innings.
Gabe Chavira, Eric Holdren and Roy Sipes each supplied a double for Rancho, which scored seven runs in the second.
Levi Lawrence drove in Valley’s only run with a double.
Sierra Vista 13, Western 1 — At Western, Julian Cutulo homered twice and tripled to power the Lions past the Warriors.
Blair Goldsack doubled twice, Armando Perez was 2-for-2, and Harley Dean went 2-for-3 for Sierra Vista.
Jesus Serrano smacked a double for Western.
Legacy 17, Mojave 1 — At Mojave, Reggie Johnson was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs, and Joey Lauria went 4-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs to lead the Longhorns past the Rattlers in five innings.
Brad Blackham and Josh Tobin combined on a one-hitter, with Blackham earning the win.
Pierce Skinner was 3-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored, and teammates Donald Glover, Tyler Thurston and Josh Torres each had a double for Legacy.
Anthony Walker doubled for Mojave.
Del Sol 11, Tech 2 — At Del Sol, Justin Chronister tossed a four-hitter with six strikeouts to lead the Dragons past Tech.
Daniel Ortega was 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs for Del Sol, and teammate Luis Grullon was 2-for-3 with a triple, a double, a run and two RBIs.
Virgin Valley 8, Parowan (Utah) 4 — At Mesquite, Victor Rubalcaba went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs, and the Bulldogs used a six-run fourth inning to down Parowan.
Brandt Eaton was 1-for-4 with a three-run double for Virgin Valley.
Boulder City 4, Myrtle Point (Ore.) 3 — At Boulder City, Jack LaMarca’s bases-loaded infield single with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning plated Tim McKeever with the winning run as the Eagles edged Myrtle Point.
LaMarca, who was 3-for-4, hit a grounder in the hole between first and second and beat the Myrtle Point defense to first base as McKeever crossed the plate.
Ross LaMarca was 1-for-3 with two RBIs for Boulder City.
Indian Springs 11, Mountain View 0 — At Mountain View, Xavier Pena fired a five-inning one-hitter to give the Thunderbirds a rout of the Saints.
Matt Johnson went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs for Indian Springs, and teammate Adam Reinke was 3-for-3 with three RBIs.
River Valley (Ariz.) 5, Needles 1 — At Needles, the Dust Devils scored four runs in the top of the sixth to top the Mustangs.
