Gorman’s Ellenberg earns PARADE All-America honors

Bishop Gorman girls basketball standout Aaryn Ellenberg has been named to the PARADE All-America team.
The 5-foot-7-inch senior guard was named to the fourth team. Ten players were selected to each team.
Ellenberg, who has signed with Oklahoma, was also selected as a McDonald’s All-American. She averaged 22.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.6 steals and 2.2 assists in leading the Gaels to the Class 4A state title.
Centennial senior guard Alexis Byrd was named the Gatorade Nevada Girls Player of the Year.
Byrd, who has signed with Portland, averaged 25.8 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.5 assists in leading the Bulldogs to a 25-5 season and the Northwest League title.
Gorman senior guard Johnathan Loyd was named the Gatorade Nevada Boys Player of the Year.
Loyd, who along with Ellenberg was the Review-Journal’s Class 4A state player of the year, averaged 14.1 points, 8.2 assists and 3.2 steals in leading Gorman to the state championship.
