ROUNDUP: Wolves hand Longhorns first loss of season

Basic’s softball team took advantage of two unearned runs in the third inning Friday en route to a 4-2 win at Legacy in a battle of unbeaten teams.
Lacey Romo tossed a three-hitter and struck out nine for Basic (9-0). Romo allowed her first two earned runs of the season when Legacy (9-1) scored twice in the sixth, but recovered to squelch the rally.
Brandy Huff was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for the Wolves, who scored twice in the second inning and led 4-0 after three innings.
Green Valley 1, Palo Verde 0 — At Palo Verde, Carly Smith led off the ninth inning with a double and scored the winning run on a throwing error as the Gators nipped the host Panthers.
Alicia Firelein tossed a three-hitter with seven strikeouts to earn the win for Green Valley.
Melissa McCormick pitched a three-hitter with 12 strikeouts for Palo Verde.
Liberty 3, Eldorado 1 — At Liberty, Sara Neiman and Breanna English combined on a three-hitter as the Patriots edged Eldorado.
Neiman struck out seven in five innings, and English, who also went 2-for-3, fanned one in the final two innings.
Carson Cooper was 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a triple and two RBIs for Liberty.
Foothill 13, Rancho 5 — At Foothill, Lauren Penska was 4-for-4 with a double, a triple and six RBIs to power the Falcons past the visiting Rams.
Kylie Ishikawa and Aricia Dami each supplied a double and four runs scored for Foothill.
Aly Lamboo went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Rancho.
Las Vegas 6, Silverado 3 — At Silverado, Jasmina Salas went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI to help Las Vegas down the Skyhawks.
Ashly Westgarth and Kristina Nelson each went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI for the Wildcats, who broke a 1-1 tie by scoring four runs in the fifth inning.
Ashley Phillips and Emily Galante each went 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI for Silverado.
Spring Valley 15, Moapa Valley 2 — At Spring Valley, Sara Stowers went 3-for-4 with a triple and five RBIs to lead the Grizzlies past the Pirates.
Katie Campo had two doubles and two RBIs to help Spring Valley, and teammate Jessica Martinez added a double and four RBIs.
Desert Oasis 11, Shadow Ridge 7 — At Shadow Ridge, Holly O’Hara hit 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and four RBIs to lift the Diamondbacks past the Mustangs.
Emily Heinz batted 3-for-5 with three RBIs, and Dayanna Gage was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI for Desert Oasis.
Sabriya Brooks and Mary Jordan each posted three hits with a triple for Shadow Ridge.
Coronado 12, Chaparral 2 — At Coronado, Kendall Sauter tossed a five-inning no-hitter to help the Cougars cruise past Chaparral.
Sauter struck out one and walked one, allowing two unearned runs.
Kim Dawson went 2-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and a run for Coronado. Taylor Woodford was 1-for-2 with a double, a run and two RBIs, and Milena Difiore was 1-for-1 with three runs scored.
Del Sol 18, Sierra Vista 9 — At Sierra Vista, Del Sol scored the final 10 runs of the game, including six in the seventh inning, to down the Mountain Lions.
Kalene Watkins went 4-for-5 for Sierra Vista.
Boulder City 1, Grand County (Utah) 0 — At St. George, Utah, Karlee Koopman threw a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts to lead the Eagles to the win in the March Warm-Up.
Melissa Stewart hit an RBI single in the third inning to account for Boulder City’s run.
Boulder City 8, Park City (Utah) 0 — At St. George, Dylan Scott threw a three-inning no-hitter to give the Eagles a win over the Miners.
Scott struck out four and didn’t give up any walks.
Ariel O’Neill hit a three-run homer to key a six-run first inning for Boulder City.
Calvary Chapel 10-8, West Wendover 0-6 — At Calvary Chapel, Jamie Schmidt tossed a four-hit shutout in the opener and four innings of shutout ball in the nightcap as the Lions swept West Wendover.
Schmidt stuck out nine in the first game and seven in the nightcap.
In the opener, Treasure Brown went 2-for-3, and Tori Carroll had three RBIs for the Lions.
In the second game, Laura Perri was 2-for-4 with a pair of triples and an RBI, and Danielle Johnson and Sammie Mann each went 2-for-4 for Calvary Chapel.
Indian Springs 23-19, Beatty 6-3 — At Indian Springs, Heather Thormahlen went 4-for-4 with a home run and seven RBIs in the first game and 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs in the second game as the Thunderbirds swept the Hornets.
Kristina Espinoza and Tessa Lundsbury each had two hits in the first game for Indian Springs. Lounsbury was 4-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs, and Espinoza batted 3-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs in the second game.
Brandi Brill earned the win in both games and had a triple in the first game. In the second game, Brill hit 3-for-3 with a home run and five RBIs.
Lake Mead 5, Campbell Hall (Calif.) 4 — At Mountain View, Abby Gamino scored on a fielding error in the bottom of the sixth inning to give the Eagles a win over Campbell Hall at the Spring Slam.
Amanda Wellman went 3-for-3 with an RBI, and Emma Khachikian was 2-for-2 with an RBI for Lake Mead.
Lynzee Freund had nine strikeouts for the Eagles.
Marshall Fundamental (Calif.) 12, Mountain View 2 — At Mountain View, Alexia Alley’s two-run homer wasn’t enough as the Saints fell in five innings in the Spring Slam.
Battle Mountain 13, The Meadows 2 — At Mountain View, Hannah Jones tossed a four-inning two-hitter to lead the Longhorns past the Mustangs.
Victor Valley Christian (Calif.) 11, Mountain View 3 — At Mountain View, the Saints scored three late runs before falling in four innings.
