ROUNDUP: One-two punch helps Sierra Vista girls to victory
Xin Gan and Elizabeth Zatezalo finished one-two to lead Sierra Vista’s girls cross country team to a first-place finish in a three-team meet at Bonanza on Wednesday.
Gan won the 2.8-mile race in 21 minutes, 11 seconds. Zatazelo finished in 21:21.
Sierra Vista finished with 26 points, followed by Bonanza (32) and Pahrump Valley (90).
Wildcats top Pioneers
At Canyon Springs, the Pioneers’ Heather Hollinger won the 2.75-mile race in 20:19, but Canyon Springs was unable to field a full team.
Las Vegas High’s Shelby Nelson finished second indivdiually in 20:50, and the Wildcats finished first with 22 points.
Chaparral breezes to win
At Rancho, Chaparral was the only team to score with a perfect 15.
Chaparral’s Peyton Hunton won the 2.75-mile race in 25:06, followed by teammates Chase Marchello (26:26) and Perla Mendoza (26:34).
Centennial takes top six spots
At Centennial, Haley Davis led a parade of Bulldog runners across the finish line, winning a 2.47-mile race in 17:36 as Centennial took the top six places and won a four-team meet.
The Bulldogs had a perfect score of 15. Legacy took second with 62.
Centennial's Alyssa Antos finished second in 17:40, followed by teammate Ashley Davis in 17:55.
