Regional pairings almost set in stone

Three of Southern Nevada’s Class 4A leagues have wrapped up their volleyball schedules.
The Northeast League still has Friday’s Rancho at Desert Pines match, with the result firming the Sunrise Region playoff schedule.
All but one of the first-round matchups for the Sunrise and Sunset Region tournament are set, pending approval this weekend by the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association.
First-round matchups are scheduled Tuesday at host sites. Both regions will have semifinal and final matches at Sierra Vista on May 14 and 15.
Here’s a look at the likely first-round matchups.
Sunset Region
Southwest No. 4 Spring Valley (9-5) at Northwest No. 1 Shadow Ridge (14-0)
Southwest No. 3 Bishop Gorman (9-5) at Northwest No. 2 Centennial (12-2)
Northwest No. 3 Palo Verde (10-4) at Southwest No. 2 Bonanza (12-2)
Northwest No. 4 Cimarron-Memorial (8-6) at Southwest No. 1 Sierra Vista (14-0)
Bishop Gorman won the tiebreaker over Spring Valley for third in the Southwest. The teams split regular-season matches and beat the same opponents in league play. The next tiebreaker is games won in head-to-head matchups. Gorman won five to Spring Valley’s three.
Sunrise Region
Southeast No. 4 Green Valley (8-6) at Northeast No. 1 Las Vegas (12-0)
Southeast No. 3 Basic (10-4) at Northeast No. 2 Rancho (8-3)
Northeast No. 3 Canyon Springs (6-6) at Southeast No. 2 Silverado (11-3)
Northeast No. 4 TBD at Southeast No. 1 Coronado (14-0)
All that is left undetermined is Coronado’s first-round opponent, which will be Desert Pines (5-6) or Valley (5-7).
If Desert Pines beats Rancho on Friday, the Jaguars are the Northeast’s No. 4 seed. Canyon Springs would win the tiebreaker for the
No. 3 seed over Desert Pines on head-to-head games won.
If Rancho wins, Desert Pines, Valley and Chaparral would tie at 5-7 with that tiebreaker eventually going to Valley on head-to-head games won against the Jaguars.
