Shadow Ridge claims Easter Invitational title

Shadow Ridge’s boys volleyball team was already beginning to make waves as one of the top squads in Southern Nevada.
After the Mustangs’ play earlier this week, there might not be any lingering doubt.
They won the 52-team Las Vegas Easter Invitational this week, defeating Nevada Union (Calif.) 24-26, 25-18, 15-13 in the title game.
Shadow Ridge, which entered the tournament with a 10-0 record, advanced to the championship by sweeping Bullard (Calif.) in two games. Nevada Union beat Coronado in three games in the other semifinal.
The match against Nevada Union was the only one in the two-day tournament in which Shadow RIdge lost a game. The tournament field included teams from Southern Nevada, California and Arizona.
Shadow Ridge’s Ryan Nolan, Jake Shea and Jerermy Makaiwi were named to the all-tournament team, with Nolan earning Most Valuable Player honors. Coronado’s Chris Austin was also named to the all-tourney team.
