ROUNDUP: Spring Valley baseball edges Sierra Vista

Billy Bob Ward’s two-out, bases-loaded single in the seventh inning plated Enzo Bello with the winning run Monday as Spring Valley’s baseball team outlasted visiting Sierra Vista, 13-12.

Ward was 3-for-4 with a triple, a double and four RBIs for the Grizzlies, who scored nine runs in the first inning and led 11-5 after three innings.

Chase LaComb was 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs for Spring Valley. Bello was 2-for-4 with three runs.

Tyler Kartler (two runs), Ryan Hendershot (double, run, RBI) and Garrett Blair (double, run, RBI) each added two hits for the Grizzlies.

Jake Findlay was 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs to lead the Mountain Lions. Jake Hager went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs, Tommy Barnes was 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, and David DeCarlo was 2-for-3 with a triple, a double and three RBIs for Sierra Vista.

Las Vegas 8, Valley 6 — At Las Vegas, Tanner Chauncey’s solo home run in the bottom of the fifth broke a 6-6 tie, and the Wildcats held on to beat the Vikings.

Quinnton Mack was 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs to lead Las Vegas. Bryce Harper went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple and two RBIs, and Wes Grass tripled twice and scored three runs.

Valley’s Eric Herring had three hits, including two doubles, and Jesse Acosta had a home run.

Rancho 7, Eldorado 5 — At Eldorado, the Rams scored two runs in the top of the eight inning to fend off the Sundevils.

Rancho’s Kevin Kline went 3-for-5 with two doubles, and James Cammack was 3-for-4 with two doubles and a triple. Eric Holdren added a double for the Rams.

Eric Larsen went 2-for-3 with two doubles to lead Eldorado.

Bonanza 12, Clark 4 — At Bonanza, Kris Bryant was 3-for-3 with two triples and two RBIs as the Bengals defeated the Chargers.

Sterling Sprau earned the win and was 2-for-3 with three RBIs for Bonanza.

Andrew Perrault had a double, and Heriberto Orozco was 3-for-4 with three RBIs for the Bengals.

Manny Estrada and Alex Delgado each had three hits for Clark.

Durango 11, Desert Oasis 0 — At Desert Oasis, freshman Rey Cardenas tossed a five-inning, five-hit shutout to lead the Trailblazers past the Diamondbacks.

Cardenas struck out six.

Mike Sukeyasu was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs for the Trailblazers. Billy Richardson had a home run and three RBIs, and

Zach Hollenbeck and Danny Reynolds each added a home run.

Jossaiah Raval was 2-for-3 with a triple and a double for the Diamondbacks.

Chaparral 13, Desert Pines 3 — At Desert Pines, the Cowboys scored seven runs in the second inning on their way to a five-inning rout of the Jaguars.

Steve Colon was 3-for-4 with two doubles to lead Chaparral. Ramon Garcia was 2-for-2 with a double.

Chaparral pitcher Ricky Perez struck out seven in a four-hitter.

James Young homered for Desert Pines.

Legacy 16, Tech 0 — At Tech, Chase Skinner went 2-for-3 with a home run as the Longhorns scored six runs in each of the first two innings and rolled past the Roadrunners.

Joey Lauria also homered for Legacy.

Bishop Gorman 19, Pahrump Valley 2 — At Cashman Field, the Gaels led 16-0 after two innings and cruised past the Trojans.

Gorman’s Joey Gallo (three RBIs), Johnny Field (three RBIs) and Stephen Manthei (two RBIs) all went 3-for-3.

Gallo blasted a two-run homer in the first inning.

Laughlin 10, Lake Mead 9 — At Laughlin, Christian Kruse was 3-for-4 with four RBIs to lead the Cougars past the Eagles.
Jorgen Davidson and Marcus King had two hits each for Laughlin, which held off a furious Lake Mead rally.

The Cougars led 8-3 after four innings before the Eagles scored five runs in the fifth. But Laughlin answered with two runs in the bottom half.

Josh Bratton was 3-for-4 to lead Lake Mead. D.J. Johnson and Drew Erickson had two hits apiece.
