ROUNDUP: Green Valley routs Coronado in wrestling

Green Valley’s wrestling team used nine pins and a pair of forfeit wins Wednesday to down visiting Coronado, 66-16.

Stephen Berta (135 pounds) recorded the fastest pin, in 28 seconds.

Also winning by fall for the Gators were: Corey Brathor (103), Tony Simpson (130), Daniel Allen (140), Chris Sehlman (145), Vicka Backus (160), Kevin Wise (171), Derek Valdes (189) and Nathan Thomas (285).

Basic 63, Del Sol 13 — At Basic, the Wolves rolled to the win with pins from Vincent Segura (119), Mark Bleuze (125), Kelly Kofford (152) and Marcellus Ortiz (189).

Cimarron-Memorial 59, Shadow Ridge 21 — At Cimarron-Memorial, Travis DeGroat (130) recorded the fastest of the Spartans’ eight pins, winning in 35 seconds as Cimarron cruised.

Bronson Ashjian (103), Colbey Garrison (135), Jason Schuele (140), Brogan Ashjian (145), Rickey Ongaro (152), Aaron Garcia (189) and Chris Samples (215) also won by pin for the Spartans.

Cimarron-Memorial 66, Legacy 9 — At Cimarron-Memorial, the Spartans won all but two of the contested matches and breezed past the Longhorns.

Britain Longmire (119), Malvarez (125), DeGroat (130), Garrison (135), Brogan Ashjian (145), Ongaro (152) and Garcia (189) recorded pins for Cimarron.

Shadow Ridge 48, Legacy 25 — At Cimarron-Memorial, Donovan Caldwell recorded the fastest pin in 1:25, and the Mustangs won nine of the 13 contested matches to down the Longhorns.

Sierra Vista 48, Bishop Gorman 26 — At Bishop Gorman, Andrew Ramos won by pin in 59 seconds at 285 pounds to lead the Mountain Lions past the Gaels.

Victor Torres (140), Manuel Sedillo (152), Michael Gomez (160) and Erik Martinez (215) also had pins for Sierra Vista.

Sierra Vista 70, Western 12 — At Bishop Gorman, the Mountain Lions won eight matches by forfeit to top the Warriors.

Jevon Suggs (103), Sylver Quemada (112), Julian Batz (135), Daniel Strbac (152), Gomez (160), Aric Wall (171), Martinez (215) and Ramos (285) each won by pin.

Martinez had the quick pin, topping his opponent in 18 seconds. It was one of three Sierra Vista pins to come in less than a minute.

Bishop Gorman 64, Western 15 — At Bishop Gorman, Johnny Field won by pin in 11 seconds at 171 pounds to lead the Gaels over the Warriors.

Jason Auschwitz (130), Tommy Field (135), Ryan Johnson (160), Luke Deuschars (189) and Mike Hutchings (285) also had pins for Gorman.

Bonanza 49, Durango 14 — At Desert Oasis, Miguel Castro (215) had the fastest of Bonanza’s six pins, winning in 57 seconds, as the Bengals lost only three matches.

Bonanza 66, Desert Oasis 9 — At Desert Oasis, the Bengals dropped only one contested match en route to an easy win.

Billy Wosik (112) recorded a pin in 19 seconds for Bonanza.

Durango 62, Desert Oasis 18 — At Desert Oasis, Durango won matches at each of the 10 lightest weight classes in a rout of the Diamondbacks.

Arbor View 41, Cheyenne 33 — At Cheyenne, Arbor View won six matches by pin to defeat the Desert Shields.

Pahrump Valley 49, Spring Valley 21 — At Spring Valley, the Trojans used six pins to pull away from the Grizzlies.

Spring Valley 45, Clark 31 — At Spring Valley, the Grizzlies beat the Chargers behind four pins.

Spring Valley wrestlers to win twice were Fritz Mijares (112), Andrew Lopez (152) and Steve Haunga (285).
