Region soccer pairings finalized
Centennial’s girls are hoping to defend their Southern Nevada Class 4A soccer title this season.
But the road to the title may be filled with a few potholes.
The Bulldogs (14-1-1) are the Northwest League’s No. 1 seed for the Sunset Region playoffs, which begin Tuesday. All region games and the Southern Nevada title game will be held at Bettye Wilson Park.
Centennial will meet Southwest League No. 4 seed Bonanza (8-5-3) in a quarterfinal match Tuesday at 6 p.m.
The other Sunset quarterfinals on Tuesday are: Northwest No. 3 Arbor View (11-3-2) vs. Southwest No. 2 Sierra Vista (10-5-1), at 4 p.m.; Northwest No. 2 Shadow Ridge (11-2-3) vs. Southwest No. 3 Durango (9-6-1) at 4 p.m.; and Southwest No. 1 seed Bishop Gorman (16-0) vs. Northwest No. 4 Palo Verde (10-4-2) at 6 p.m.
The Sunrise Region tournament also begins on Tuesday. Defending Sunrise champion Green Valley (14-1-1) is the No. 2 seed from the Southeast League and will face Northeast League No. 3 Eldorado (7-4-3) at 4 p.m.
The other Sunrise quarterfinals are: Northeast No. 1 Rancho (13-1-0) vs. Southeast No. 4 Basic (6-7-3) at 6 p.m.; Northeast No. 2 Las Vegas (7-4-3) vs. Southeast No. 3 Silverado (8-5-3) at 4 p.m.; and Southeast No. 1 seed Coronado (13-1-2) vs. Northeast No. 4 Valley (5-5-4) at 6 p.m.
Both regions will play semifinal matches on Feb. 26 at 4 and 6 p.m.
The region title games are on March 2, with the Sunset match at 4 p.m. and the Sunrise at 6 p.m.
The Southern Nevada title game is March 5 at 6 p.m.
