ROUNDUP: Laswell strikes out side to end game, rescue Desert Oasis

Desiree Laswell struck out the side in the seventh inning, stranding the potential tying and go-ahead runs, and Desert Oasis’ held off visiting Clark 3-2 in softball Friday.

The Diamondbacks carried a 3-0 lead into the seventh before a walk, hit and two errors allowed Clark to score twice and put runners at second and third with no outs.

Laswell tossed a one-hitter, striking out 15 and walking two. She also went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Emily Heinz was 2-for-3 with two runs for Desert Oasis.

Clark’s Elisa Dawson pitched a six-hitter with 10 strikeouts.

Durango 1, Spring Valley 0 — At Spring Valley, Samantha Juarez’s singled home Nicole Schultz in the fifth inning, lifting the Trailblazers over the Grizzlies.

Schultz singled, stole second and advanced to third on Nicole Herrera’s sacrifice before Juarez’s decisive hit.

Bishop Gorman 14, Western 4 — At Gorman, the Gaels scored 10 runs in the first inning and coasted past the Warriors in five innings.

Sierra Doerhmann went 3-for-3 with three runs, O’Sheyon Rollins had two hits and scored twice, and Aaryn Ellenberg went 2-for-2 with three runs.

Sierra Vista 14, Pahrump Valley 14 — At Pahrump Valley, the game was suspended because of darkness in the bottom of the 11th inning just after Rachel Hartwick scored from second on a sacrifice bunt.

Sierra Vista scored five runs in the top of the seventh for a 13-11 lead, but the Trojans tied it in the bottom half to force extra innings.

Maria Capparelli’s RBI single in the top of the 11th gave the Mountain Lions a short-lived lead.

Cimarron-Memorial 9, Cheyenne 1 — At Cimarron, Jessica White belted a pinch-hit grand slam in the fourth, highlighting the Spartans’ victory over the Desert Shields.

Starlyn Thomas also homered for Cimarron, and Andrea Bishop went 2-for-3.

Rachel Holly was 3-for-3 for Cheyenne.

Palo Verde 4, Arbor View 2 — At Palo Verde, Erica Stratton hit a three-run homer to cap the Panthers’ four-run fifth inning against the Aggies.

Lauren Stover singled home Missy McCormick for the first run of the fifth.

Legacy 15, Mojave 0 — At Mojave, Darcey Cochran went 3-for-4 with a double to guide the Longhorns past the Rattlers in five innings.

Cochran also struck out four and tossed a two-hitter.

Silverado 6, Tech 2 — At Tech, Aly Kosinski and Akina Zuccaro each went 2-for-4 to help Silverado beat the Roadrunners.

Tech’s Heaven Wright was 2-for-4.

Liberty 20, Del Sol 0 — At Liberty, Diana Cassaro went 2-for-2 with a double to spark the Patriots’ five-inning rout of the Dragons.

Robin Lowery went 3-for-4 with three RBIs for Liberty, which scored 12 runs in the second inning.

Lowery also got the win, striking out seven and allowing three hits.

Green Valley 7, Basic 0 — At Basic, Alicia Firelein struck out 10 in the Gators’ victory over the Wolves.

Bonanza 6, Canyon View (Utah) 5 — At Bonanza, pinch hitter Sam Snyder singled home the winning run in the bottom of the seventh, giving the Bengals their 11th consecutive victory.

Aimee Doyle, who went 3-for-4, also singled in the seventh to drive home the tying run, and Bonanza took advantage of three Canyon View errors in the inning.

Boulder City 2-14, Moapa Valley 0-2 — At Overton, Karlee Koopman pitched a one-hitter with 14 strikeouts and was 2-for-3 with a double in the opener as Boulder City swept the Pirates.

Paxton Fleming had two doubles to drive in both Boulder City runs.

In the second game, Dylan Scott went the distance and finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs.

Taylor McKeever went 4-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs, and Ariel O’Neill was 2-for-2 with three RBIs and two runs.

Faith Lutheran 6-19, Virgin Valley 5-3 — At Faith Lutheran, Maggie Fish drove in the Crusaders’ go-ahead run in the first game of their sweep of the Bulldogs.

In the second game, Faith Lutheran’s Rachel Smith was 2-for-2 with two RBIs, and winning pitcher Kailey McEvilly struck out six.

Calvary Chapel 7-6, Mountain View 5-4 — At Calvary Chapel, Jamie Schmidt was 5-for-8 with two home runs — one in each game — to lead the Lions to a sweep of the Saints.

Calvary Chapel’s Kaitlyn Ulrich and Anna Duerden had two hits each in the nightcap, helping the Lions’ 6-1 lead hold up.

Mountain View’s Valencia Casey had two triples in the opener, in which the Lions led 7-0.

Needles 25-21, The Meadows 0-0 — At Needles, Calif., Lexi Baldwin and Alex Chandler pitched no-hitters as Needles swept.

Baldwin struck out six and walked two in a three-inning opener, and Angelina Isaacson was 4-for-4 with three RBIs.

Chandler fanned seven and walked two in the four-inning nightcap. Baldwin (three hits) and Chandler (two) drove in three runs apiece.

Henderson International 23-18, Round Mountain 0-2 — At Henderson International, Lee Harrison pitched a perfect game in the opener of the Wolverines’ sweep.

Harrison struck out 10 in the opener. Kendal Short and Brittany Huff had two hits each.

Huff and Natasha Chapman went 2-for-3 in the nightcap, and Chapman threw a one-hitter.
