Green Valley’s Phillips to return home Friday

Recovering Green Valley High School football and track athlete LaQuan Phillips will return to his home in Henderson on Friday after being treated at Shriners Hospitals for Children Northern California in Sacramento, Calif., since Sept. 16.

Phillips, 17, is able to take “giant steps” using a walker and should be ready to return to school Dec. 1, his aunt and legal guardian, Delphine Lakes, said.

Phillips suffered partial paralysis related to a bruised spine caused in a collision during a football game Sept. 5.
