ROUNDUP: Thompson’s shot gives Pioneers OT win, third place

Michael Thompson’s 12-footer as time expired in overtime Saturday lifted Canyon Springs to a 68-66 win over Gateway (Colo.) in the third-place game of the Cherry Creek Classic in Englewood, Colo.

Terence Stanley scored 27 points, including a game-tying three-point play late in regulation. Antonio Snow scored 11 and Chris Willis 10 for the Pioneers.

Fairview (Colo.) 102, Canyon Springs 58 — At the Cherry Creek (Colo.) Classic, Fairview shot better than 70 percent from the field in pulling away from the Pioneers.

Snow led Canyon Springs with 17 points, and Stanley added 12 points.

Eldorado 86, St. Joseph (Calif.) 51 — At the Mission Prep Christmas Classic in San Luis Obispo, Calif., Charles White had 28 points and seven steals as the Sundevils rolled past St. Joseph.

Mitrell Clark had 21 points and Marcus Moreland 19 for Eldorado.

Davis (Utah) 59, Centennial 40 — At Cedar City, Utah, Davis used a 22-6 run in the fourth quarter to pull away from Centennial.

Matt Holley and Ben Vozzola each scored 10 points for the Bulldogs.

Yuma (Ariz.) 61, Needles 52 — At the Lake Havasu Tournament, the Mustangs lost the title game despite 18 points, six rebounds and five assists from Stevie Kidd.

Darra Russell added 10 points, 10 rebounds and four assists for Needles.

Needles 46, Lake Havasu (Ariz.) 38 — At the Lake Havasu Tournament, Kidd had 16 points and six assists to lead the Mustangs into the title game.

Russell added 11 points and 14 rebounds.

Needles 66, South Pointe (Ariz.) 36 — At the Lake Havasu Tournament, Russell had 19 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Mustangs.

Kidd added 18 points and eight assists.

Independence 66, Round Mountain 35 — At the Battle Mountain Tournament, Independence rolled past the Knights.

Joe Swope had 12 points and eight rebounds to lead Round Mountain. Will Sweeney added 13 rebounds for the Knights.
