ROUNDUP: Gorman girls fall in final of Tournament of Champions

Mater Dei (Calif.) used a 12-2 run late in the second quarter Monday to open up a 12-point lead on its way to a 63-41 win over Bishop Gorman in the championship game of the Tournament of Champions in Phoenix.

The Gaels trailed early, but rallied to within two points before the run.

Dannielle Diamant led Gorman with 11 points. Aaryn Ellenberg, the Gaels’ lone representative on the all-tournament team, added nine points.

Centennial 76, Lynwood (Calif.) 64 — Johnna Brown scored 27 points to lead the Bulldogs to a win in the third-place game.

Courtney Hayes added 13 points for Centennial. Alexis Byrd scored 12 and Deanna Daniels 10 for the Bulldogs.
