Kate Johnesee rose to the top of the Northwest Doubles Invitational last week.
On Saturday, the Cimarron-Memorial senior showed she's awfully good on her own, too.
Johnesee won three matches in straight sets on her home courts Saturday to capture the girls title in the Northwest Singles Tennis Championships. She defeated Centennial's Hannah Barnum, 6-4, 6-3 in the final.
Johnesee lost only 10 games in her six sets in the final three rounds.
She opened the day by defeating Centennial's Nicole Moore, 6-2, 6-0, in the quarterfinals, then downed Palo Verde's Chelsey Koktavy, 6-0, 6-1 in the semifinals.
Barnum advanced to the finals with a 5-7, 6-1, 1-0(8) semifinal win over Arbor View's Taylor Bland.
Koktavy rebounded to win the third-place match, defeating Bland, 6-4, 6-2.
Johnesee teamed with Starlyn Thomas to win the doubles title last week.
