Lake Mead, Pahranagat Valley go 3-0 in tourney

Lake Mead and Pahranagat Valley each won its three pool matches Friday in the Lady Trojan Invitational Tournament at Pahrump Valley High School.
The Eagles swept Pool A winning all three of their matches in two games. Beatty went 2-1 in the pool.
Amanda Wellman had seven kills, four blocks and four assists as Lake Mead defeated Calvary Chapel, 25-21, 25-15. Jessica Rinaldi added 10 assists.
Rinaldi's eight digs and eight assists helped the Eagles to a 25-11, 25-10 win over Pahrump Valley's junior varsity.
Sam Herman had eight aces and four digs in Lake Mead's 25-14, 25-17 win over Beatty. Wellman added five kills, five digs and six aces.
Pahranagat Valley breezed through Pool B, limiting its opponents to a total of 59 points in three matches. Round Mountain, which lost a 25-18, 25-18 decision to the Panthers, was 2-1 in the pool.
Lake Mead will face Round Mountain in a championship bracket semifinal at 9 a.m. Saturday. Beatty and Pahranagat Valley meet in the other semifinal at 10 a.m. The winners play at 12:15, with the semifinal losers meeting at 1:15. The first of a potential two championship matches is at 2:15 p.m.
In the consolation bracket, Calvary Chapel will meet Henderson International at 9 a.m. Laughlin will face the Pahrump Valley junior varsity at 10 a.m.
LAS VEGAS INVITATIONAL — At Harney Middle School, Faith Lutheran went 2-1 in pool play on the opening day of the 40-team tournament.
The Crusaders beat Legacy, 25-22, 25-20 as Alex Treadwell had four kills.
In Faith's 25-12, 25-20 win over Del Sol, Meagan Howser and Treadwell each had four kills. Kalya McCourt added six aces. Jessica Rodriguez had nine assists.
Bishop Gorman downed the Crusaders, 25-9, 25-14, Howser had three kills.
