Wicks burns Labor Day Classic field

Palo Verde's Daniel Wicks had the fastest time Saturday, finishing in 15:26.31 to capture the seniors race in the Labor Day Classic at Palo Verde.

Each class had its own race on over the 4,506-meter course.

Wicks beat out Solomon Belay of Valley, who finished second in 15:45.6.

Green Valley's Julius Kim won the juniors race in 15:41.79, holding off Shadow Ridge's Sam Mahar (15:43.1).

Arbor View locked down the top two spots in the sophomores race with Greg Marschik finishing first in 16:10.52 and Adonis Gaines claiming second in 16:51.49.

Green Valley had a 1-2 finish in the freshmen race as Doug Harris won in 18:26.21. Christian Fortner was second in 18:39.74.
