High temps stay in Las Vegas Valley, but chance of rain this week

Updated July 22, 2019 - 9:43 pm

Additional moisture and slightly lower temperatures are expected in the Las Vegas Valley this week before hotter weather returns over the weekend.

Tuesday’s high of 103 degrees and low of 83 will be accompanied by a slight chance of rain, National Weather Service meteorologist Caleb Steele said. A 20 percent chance for rain or thunderstorms will linger in the afternoons on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday before dropping to 10 percent on Friday and Saturday.

Winds are expected to be light this week, though Steele added that thunderstorms in neighboring states may send gusty winds into the valley.

Wednesday is expected to top out at 100 degrees. Temperatures will begin to inch higher on Thursday with a forecast high of 103, and climb further to 106 and 109 on Friday and Saturday, respectively, the weather service said.

Skies should be mostly clear on Friday and Saturday.
