Truck driver arrested for driving wrong way on US 95 in Las Vegas

The driver of a work truck was arrested by Nevada Highway Patrol on suspicion of driving under the influence after traveling several miles the wrong way on U.S. Highway 95, the agency said on Twitter Thursday night.

Jessup Pereya, 24, was identified Friday as the driver.

Highway Patrol said Pereya was traveling the wrong way on U.S. 95 from Casino Center Boulevard to Jones Boulevard, heading north in the southbound lanes.

The agency released dash camera footage from a highway patrol vehicle showing a trooper approach the yellow truck on the shoulder of U.S. 95. The trooper tells Pereya to step out and sit on the front of the patrol vehicle before the video clip comes to an end.

The agency did not report any crashes or any injuries.

On Thursday, the Highway Patrol reported that there have been 52 wrong-way driver calls in the Southern Command area since Jan. 1. Statewide, there have been 93 wrong-way driver calls, the agency said.
