Updated June 18, 2020 - 4:34 pm

Clark County recorded 217 new cases of COVID-19 and one additional death over the preceding day, data posted Thursday by the Southern Nevada Health District showed.

The new cases reported on the health district’s coronavirus page pushed the total for the county to 9,535, and the additional fatality left the death toll at 387.

Almost 7,100 county residents are believed to have recovered from the respiratory disease, caused by the novel coronavirus.

New cases were above the daily average of slightly above 200 over the preceding week, while the death was below the daily average of a little under three for the period.

The health district also reported 22 new hospitalizations, nearly double the daily average of just over 11 for the preceding week.

Washoe County reported 83 new cases on Thursday, its largest single-day increase in cases. It also announced one new death.

Nevada’s counties have reported more than 12,160 cases of COVID-19. More than 8,800 people are estimated to have recovered.

As of Wednesday, the Nevada Hospital Association reported that 75 percent of beds in Southern Nevada hospitals were occupied, including 77 percent of beds in intensive care units.

Meanwhile, the state Department of Health and Human Services reported 234 new COVID-19 cases and two additional deaths over the preceding day.

New data posted on the state’s nvhealthresponse.nv.gov webpage showed the state topping the 200 mark for reported cases for the seventh time in the last 11 days.

The new cases were slightly below the average of 240 over the preceding week, while the fatalities were below the daily average of a little over five for the period.

The state infection rate, considered a better barometer for the trend of the outbreak in the state, ticked slightly higher, to 5.23 percent. After nearly two months of steady declines, the rate has flattened over the past nine days, registering one-day increases on three occasions. In each instance, it declined again the following day.
