Motorcyclist killed after crashing near Sloan

A motorcyclist died early Sunday after crashing a Harley Davidson near Sloan, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

The Highway Patrol said it was unclear at what time the crash occurred, though it was first reported to the agency just after 8 a.m. Sunday.

The motorcyclist, identified by the Highway Patrol as 44-year-old Dustin Robbins Hughes of Henderson, “was unable to negotiate a curve” in the roadway on State Route 604. He then drove across the highway, through the opposite travel lanes, before entering an unpaved embankment, according to the agency.

Hughes was thrown from the motorcycle and died at the scene, marking the 28th fatal crash investigated this year by the Highway Patrol. Thirty people have died.
