How and where to get a COVID vaccine in Las Vegas Valley

Updated March 30, 2021 - 6:06 pm

COVID-19 vaccination opportunities are widely available in multiple locations in the Las Vegas Valley.

Health officials are still concerned about getting hard-hit populations signed up for the doses. Black residents are getting vaccinated at a rate well below the expectation in Clark County, leading concerned officials to launch an outreach campaign to improve the lagging numbers. Officials say that the campaign will extend to public housing and that Uber has volunteered to give rides to distribution sites in the 10 hardest-hit ZIP codes in the county.

Eligibility expands April 5 to all Nevadans age 16 and older.

Appointments can be booked on the Southern Nevada Health District site as well as the new state portal.

A vaccine pop-site will be held on April 3 at the Martin Luther King Senior Center in an effort to reach more seniors in neighborhoods. Appointments will be available between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. To schedule, go to vaxnlv.com, and use the event code “MLK” or call 1-800-401-0946. A limited number of Walmart gift cards will be provided for those who get vaccinated at this event, while supplies last, a spokesman said. The center is located at 2420 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Building B.

This week, MGM Resorts began to offer vaccinations at one of its Strip properties to all its local employees. Vaccinations will be provided from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Tuesday through Saturday at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, said MGM spokesman Brian Ahern. Since Jan. 18, Wynn Resorts has been offering vaccinations to eligible employees from at a vaccination site at Encore, spokesman Michael Weaver said in an email. About 3,000 Wynn employees have been vaccinated at the site operated by University Medical Center, along with many thousands of other eligible workers.

Some smaller government-run vaccination sites were also having trouble filling appointments. To make vaccinations more convenient, North Las Vegas began offering appointments at its College of Southern Nevada site until 8 p.m., City Manager Ryann Juden said. The city had been finishing by 3:30 p.m.

Veterans

Veterans of all ages can receive the coronavirus vaccination through the Southern Nevada Healthcare System.

Call center

A state call center is available to answer questions and assist those who may need help making appointments. The call center is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 1-800-401-0946. The health district also continues to urge people to cancel appointments if they have made more than one. In addition to the call center, people can email covidvaccine-appointments@snhd.org for assistance canceling appointments.
