Suspect in Summerlin restaurant homicide arrested in Texas

Las Vegas police have made an arrest in a targeted killing at a Summerlin restaurant on Nov. 23.

The suspect was identified by police as Oscar Richardson Jr., 31. He was arrested in San Antonio, Texas, in connection with the slaying of Marcus Larry, 39, at the Teriyaki Madness restaurant, 10300 W. Charleston Blvd.

Las Vegas Justice Court records show a criminal complaint and arrest warrant were issued Wednesday for Richardson on charges of murder and attempted murder. Authorities in Bexar County, Texas, said he was booked at the county jail there on the same charges. Online jail records did not indicate whether a court date has been set.

Police said Larry was slain when a gunman walked in and opened fire at 7:49 p.m. He died at the scene.

A 48-year-old employee of the business also was shot but survived. Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo said this week that the woman suffered an injury to her arm.

It was not immediately clear Friday afternoon why police believe Richardson committed to the crime, but online court records indicate he has a criminal history in Las Vegas. A man with the same name has been arrested at least three times on felonies in Las Vegas dating to 2012. Charges ranged from obstructing a police officer to buying and possessing stolen property to prohibited person in possession of a gun.

Larry also had an extensive criminal history. He and another man, Kenneth Reid, now 33, pleaded guilty in 2013 to conspiracy to commit murder and attempted murder in the June 12, 2009, death of 9-year-old Savannah Bullins in North Las Vegas. He entered the type of guilty plea that required him to admit only that prosecutors could prove their case.

Police said the child was struck by gunfire in the shooting at an apartment complex near Civic Center Drive and Cheyenne Avenue in a shooting that police claim targeted Bullins’ father, although the child’s father said he didn’t know Reid or Larry. Both Reid and Larry were sentenced to seven to 20 years in prison.

Police and prosecutors said Larry and Reid were associated with the gang the Hoodsmen Bloods.
