‘Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Musical’ coming to Vegas

The Chipmunks have always been musical. After all, their debut — the holiday-themed "Chipmunk Song" — topped the pop charts in 1958, followed by decades of success on TV and in the movies.

But now they have a live musical in which to be musical, as "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Musical" invades the Orleans Arena Dec. 2.

Chipmunks Alvin, Simon and Theodore — along with the equally chirpy Chipettes — headline the musical journey, in which they plan a big charity concert to save Woodstock.

Along the way, the Chipmunks invade an Elvis convention in (where else?) Las Vegas, join a Chicago break-dancing competition and kick up their boot heels at a Nashville hoedown, performing numbers made famous by everyone from Elvis to Carly Rae Jepsen.

Based on the characters from the hit movies, the live "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Musical" will be presented at 3:30 and 6:30 p.m. Dec. 2 at Orleans Arena, 4500 W. Tropicana Ave. For tickets ($18-$65; VIP meet-and-greet packages are $90), call 702-284-7777 or visit www.orleansarena.com.
