Updated March 25, 2022 - 2:12 pm

Las Vegas police were investigating a shooting near downtown Las Vegas Friday morning.

Officers were called to D Street near Interstate 15 at 11:14 a.m. where one person was injured, according to a statement from the Metropolitan Police Department.

The injured person was taken to University Medical Center.

Nearby roads, including Bonanza Road and the D Street onramp to I-15, were initially closed. By 1:30 p.m., Bonanza Road was reopened, but the onramp to I-15 remained closed, as did a segment of D Street. Police were observed scouring for evidence in the area including along the edge of the onramp, and the Nevada Highway Patrol was assisting with traffic control in the area. Northbound traffic on the interstate was moving very slowly near the shooting scene.

Las Vegas police said they did not plan to immediately release any additional information on the shooting Friday afternoon, citing an ongoing investigation.
