Ascaya closes on second priciest residential land sale of ’15

A Henderson custom-home community has closed on the second-priciest local residential land sale of 2015.
Ascaya said Monday that sales brokers for the 313-lot neighborhood, under construction in the McCullough Mountains of Henderson, sold a $2.45 million plot at 9 Rockmont Court. The 1.6-acre site has "panoramic views" of the Strip and Red Rock Canyon, said Ascaya sales manager Darin Marques.
Luxury-sales team Shapiro & Sher Group of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Nevada Properties brokered the deal for Ascaya.
Longtime local builder Dan Coletti of Sun West Custom Homes represented the unidentified buyer. Coletti said he plans to design and build a home for the new owner.
Ascaya also posted 2015's most expensive residential land sale — a $2.6 million deal for 1.1 acres that closed in October.
Hong Kong-based developer Henry Cheng began grading on Ascaya in 2005 but halted construction to wait out the recession. The community began selling sites in late 2014. About half a dozen lots have closed at prices of roughly $900,000 and up. Construction is also under way on a $25 million clubhouse and seven "inspiration" homes designed to model the parcels' development potential.
