Man found dead near Kingman; pickup missing

A homicide investigation is underway in the tiny northwest Arizona community of Yucca, west of Kingman.

Mohave County deputies responded at 8:43 a.m. Monday after a man performing a welfare check on his friend found him dead in his home in the 11200 block of South Bennie Road, according to sheriff's spokeswoman Trish Carter.

Carter said the man, Charles John McCarthy, 70, was found slumped over his kitchen table covered in blood.

Investigators are looking for McCarthy's missing vehicle, a green 1997 Dodge Ram half-ton extended cab truck with an Arizona Purple Heart license plate of PH9A12.

Carter said detectives are withholding information about the manner of McCarthy's death to further their investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office, 928-753-0753, or the Silent Witness hotline, 928-753-1234.
