Cop fired after Nazi salute photo from KKK rally surfaces

A Louisiana police detective was fired this week after a local newspaper showed a photo of him giving a Nazi salute while wearing a Ku Klux Klan crest at what was described as a rally.

Raymond Mott was seen in the 2014 photo at an anti-immigration rally, the Huffington Post reported. After the public called for the officer to resign, he refused. He was fired after the Lake Arthur Town Council voted unanimously on Wednesday. The Jennings Daily News reported all of Mott's cases are under review.

In an attempt to explain the photo, Mott said he was undercover when the photo was taken, later admitting he lied and was involved with the Loyal White Knights chapter.

"The picture speaks for itself," he told KATC. "I'm standing at a rally against illegal immigration. There's not much to be said about the picture. I've never denied it was me."

The New York Daily News reported Mott said he was fired illegally and has hired an attorney to take legal action.
